Whats a good veg bulb for my situation

compact florescents (cfls) or t5's work good. idealy you want 20-35 watts per square foot for vegging.

so if your veg area was 2x2 or 4 square feet then youw would need at least 80-140 watts of florescents to grow your plants. good luck.

hey Dankedout
i agree with Senseless. CFL's are a great cheap option. /never tried t5 but i hear nothing but good things. what i would do i use some CFL's to start them or just use the 400hps all the way through. GL bro :joint:

I'd get a 4 ft 4 lamp T-8 fixture from HD or lowes, keep the lamps 1/2 inch above the seedlings until 6-10 inches tall, then finish vegging under the HPS.Baby vegging plants love close flourescent light.I use a combo of daylight 6500K and warm white 3000K

anything like that would be great..
you can get some large cfls that fit into a regular light socket

i much prefer the bigger ones that go into the same size socket as an hps(without the ballast of course)

but yeah any light actually designed for growing should work great and if it doesnt either you suck or bitch at the company who made it!
