Hi,
I used to lift alot in my teen years and my early 20's.

I battled heavy depression for the last 6 years.
I know that lifting would have helped, but my energy, and motivation level was so low. I just got fatter and fatter, and got more and more depressed.
It was an awefull cycle.
recently I have been smoking pure sativas, heavily. I battled the rush and paranoia.
I soon realized my depression has become less intense. So I smoked more of the satty.
No I feel 75% of my former self.

what is a good body building forum?
A body building forum that has the sense of community that Icmag has and our beloved Overgrow had.
no one else in my life lifts, I really need the motivation.
thanks in advanced.

Count me in. I've been dedicated for about 5 months now.

Body appearance - definite changes. I'm much more lean, muscular, and stronger.

Psychological - definite changes. Confidence, humor, self-esteem have skyrocketed.

I'm much happier. I think the key is to have fun.

www.ironaddicts.com is one of the single best resources for anyone that is looking to get into serious lifting (powerlifting mostly), and it also has alot of information for newbies, as well. It's run by a great guy who is extremely knowledgeable, very intelligent and one of the best trainers that I can think of. I was seriously into recreational weightlifting/bodybuilding from the time that I was 12 years old and the last few years before I stopped I was heavily into powerlifting. If there are any questions that you need answered, please ask. I'm no longer in the scene but I'm always willing to help.

just buy a chin up bar and weighted skipping rope... the only things you need... I don't know i'm wierd i never liked weights or gyms... i'm more about body weight exercizes... skipping, chin ups and pushups are what keep me going...

and it definately helps with depression to feel good it was something that helped me emmensely.

good luck

Been working out heavily recently too. Thanks for the recommendations guys! I've gained a lot of strength in the last few months. I love heavy hack squats and back exercises now :)

Thank you so much.
I had my first work out back last night.
I'm not too sore.
That means I'll get that awesome 3rd day chronic, don't touch me soreness!
I'm starting to feel like my old self.
peace,

I'm with mcrob44, bodyweight exercises are really all that is needed. They also have the advantage of not requiring a trip to the gym; you can bust out a workout in your living room. To the exercises already mentioned, I would add that doing squats (no weights) and lunges are very beneficial. Check out this forum for more ideas (it's focused on training for boxing/mma, but there are a lot of members that do neither: http://www.rosstraining.com/forum/
