What would happen if someone in Ca tried driving

Would imagine the traffic would be a good deal thinner than normal.

I was hopeful to so some serious speeding over the weekend after seeing that cops were staying home or whatever. Nope, still out.

Are the streets really empty there? Idk, the amount of stuff deemed essential and the employees for those places seems pretty high. From what I can gather you can still go to the store and do necessary stuff. Just keep on looking for a store with tp for your bunghole till you hit nevada.

Hotel may be an issue, gas no problem.

Speaking of touching gas pumps... or machines at work. Don't pick your nose before washing the hands.

Yeah but is the gestapo pulling citizens over because of the flu pandemic?

Are they restricting free movement now? So you can't get in your car and drive around?

If they are writing tickets on interstates, it is because the local muni is broke and the chief wants donuts. Driving is safer than airlines, but again a hotel may be an issue.

NYC, NJ have imposed new restrictions that will actually arrest "violators" and impose up to 6 months in jail.

I'm guessing no hotels would be needed until reaching the warm promised land way down South

I suspect some kind of a story to explain your trip would be necessary to pass through some strict-and-bored municipalities. Sick family member is usually a good one.

I doubt I’d have a problem. Essential services are open. I usually sleep in the car. Motels are dirty.
Sounds like New Yorkers are headed south.

I’m waiting for the derogatory names and the roadblocks. The tested keeping out the untested and the dirties who tested positive. The rich will hire proxies to do their testing, especially if they know they’re dirty. Death squads will roam the markets. Always watching. Keenly aware of those buying more than one gallon of milk.

“Two gallons of milk”, she proclaimed. “You have two gallons of milk”. I could feel the stares as the crowd slowly engulfed me. “Six feet”, I yelled. I inched closer. They knew I was serious. They reached for their pockets and, “no, no”...
The smell of hand wipes was nauseating. I knew I would soon be at the point of unconscious. With my last gasp of air, I muttered, “okay, just one. I’ll put one back”.

Oh ok... I wasn't aware of the game rules.

So we can assume that this someone has money for gas and food now.

And can stop for rest.

So I'm guessing that this someone isn't going to New York.

I'm going to change my answer in light of the new information.

They pull a Forrest and turn around and keep driving.

I think it's time to reread The Stand.
