What vaportronik disks are you guys using?

I bought some of the natural ones but they don't seem to work very well. They give off what I would describe as an overwhelmingly powerful smell that only masks the smell of what I'm growing. Are there other disks that might work better in my vaportronic?

hey rr14 -

responding again. the reason i know so much about using all these odor control methods, is that i happened to be blessed with incredibily stinky plants, and went through all of this in the past (carbon, ozone, vaportronic, ionizers, you name it. i tried it.)

so you can learn from my experience!

carbon scrubber - fresh activated carbon really works the best. when its enough carbon for size of grow, there is absolutely no smell whatsoever that can be noticed by smokers and non smokers. just clean fresh air. or just the regular smell of your house/apartment. problem is, fans make noise! and if stealth is your thing, this option is a little hard to do. those in line fans sound like jet engines. i was able to quiet mine down by wrapping it up in an old winter jacket and duct tape. you can use bubble wrap and thick blankets/comforters, and hang it from bungee cords. but there was still a slight humm/vibration sound too it when closing the door. most people wouldn't notice this, but i did.

ozone- ozone works well when it has time to mix with, react and dissipate back into odorless oxygen. ozone has its own smell. its bleachy/chlorine like when its too high. when the mix is just right (as from my other post) the smell is more like a rainy thunderstorm fresh open window air smell. but only when its balanced properly. it really needs a closed environment with no ventilation, if you walk in a room with an ozone gen running, you will smell something is 'off' or 'different here' but you just can't pinpoint it. if its too high, you will know right away. ozone generator makes a slight sound when running, a buzzing sound if your using those metal plate models, not sure if ultra violet ones make any sound, as i never owned one. very good for stealth, since its quiet. some will tell you bad for your health, but if balanced properly, and used intelligently, they should be safe. leaving it on 24/7 and sleeping in the room is NOT recommend ;)

vaportronic - believe it or not neutral scent one is the only one which actually does eliminate the ode de skunk, and not mask it. some might argue that this is just covering, but i believe it truely is blending/bonding its neutral odor molecules and specifically bonding to skunk smelling ones (thiols?) the problem is, it is replaced with its own unique odor, which is kind of like skunk-off (if you have pets) with a little bit of big red chewing gum, and some sort of eucalyptus smell. the other scents that the company makes just mixes with and does not bind/neutralize.

now this is also a balancing act. you can minimize this by cutting down on the timed release by the vaportronic, or removing the disc from the machine entirely, just put it in a plastic cup, cover the cup with some saran wrap or plastic wrap, and poke one or two holes in the cover with a tooth pick, so it doesn't release so much of that neutral smell. add more holes and place it close to your plant until you hit a balance of 'neutral' /to/ skunk , and then its less noticeable. this option makes no noise, but it does produce a new smell. and at different times of the day when the plants are producing more stink, more of that 'neutral' is noticeable. instead of using a vaportronic cabinet in there, try using those little dispenser holders, where you just twist it to the desired level of release. the vaportronic cabinet spits out a ton of disc scent, easily enough to cover a huge open basement, 1st floor of a decent sized house, etc. too much for your hut, even on its lowest setting. and i've read that a great number of very stinky girls can overtake a vaportronic in 2 weeks time. not cost effective.
just to let you know what most may go through, i got my vaportronic and activated it right away, within seconds the skunk had left the building. but then the next day i started worrying how to cover up or explain the big red gum smell ha ha , by slowing its release seemed to do the trick. problem was every once in a while you'd catch a wiff of the vapor. so i went back to the drawing board.

i was always skeptical about the actual vaportek being more effective then the vaportronic, if it releases this same odor, i can smell it in an instant, and from a great distance also, especially if the tronic is supposed to be the weaker option of the two, i'd be afraid to try the big one then. i'm not sure if its a different product altogether, and i have never tested it. i do believe it does have a very real ability to eliminate skunky odors from experience with the vaportronic.

hope this helps, good luck on evicting the skunk!

thanks so much for taking the time to write such a detailed response. I've since started using my vaportronic again and an additional carbon scrubber in my setup and am finally happy.

no problem rr14. another thing you can try to balance it better is turn the vaportronic to the longest duration, then you can use duct tape and tape up the grills on the front and side of the plastic cabinet, and only leave one slit open on the side, and one slit open on the front grills, so it doesn't push all of the neutral out too quickly each time the mini fan turns on.

blockheader. yes the neutral is the only one that really does remove the odor. but if i walked into your house, i would immediately know what you were up to since your running it way too high. but i guess the only others that would call you on it is growers, so. i dunno, up in the air with vapor products, unless you can balance it exact, you are going to have some kind of detectable odor.
