Hey guys i know that any light can make AF grow but what kind of light do they grow best with?

I have a 400 w veg light and 400w flowering light.

my two lowrider #2 X AK47 seedlings are just now showing the 1st layer of leafs atm.

Same as 12/12 strains? what you have i would happily sit 16-20 autos (but im height limited and would use little pots)

I would recommend 20 days with a MH bulb then 40+ with the HPS,

cryoss sounds like you got the right kit mate start off with the veg light till you see white hairs then bang start with the flower light but use big pots mate for better yeild but man if you got the room and cooling id use both lights in flowering but with only 2on the go just use the one good luck

My autoflower area is 3 foot by 3 foot, and is slamming 800 watts total. A 400 hps side by side with 40 mh. Thats about 88 watts per square foot. the maximum is 110 watts per foot, anything over 120 will bleach your plants. After 4 years growing and breeding autos and many lighting experiments, I fully believe that the best light for an auto is mixed spectrum. I usually do 16 plants under this setup.
First pic is current auto plants, each different color tag was planted on different days for a staggered harvest.
Pic 2 is plants and lights.
Pic 3 is dual lighting.
Pic 4 is a White Dwarf bud from my last auto grow in this setup.

You guys have good equipment... why not get some good genetics and get some good buds?

Edit: and a good timer to put your lights on 12/12

I have an area that is not for autos and I have 12 mothers that are"good genetics" and they are flowered under 1000watt HPS. I beleive that most of the newer autos are also good genetics, and your welcome to disagree about that. The more we breed these autos to the regular plants the better they get. The Afghan Kush Ryder gets as much as 22% THC. That is good bud.

I really wasn't trying to be a douche-bag. It just that in my experience autoflowering cannabis is completely inferior. Honestly, I would be embarrased to post a picture of a bud that looked like :yeahthatsbud in your other post... not dissin on YOU, dissin on the GENETICS.

Wish you the best of luck. I will stay out of the AF forums from here on...Peace.

Yeah that White Dwarf is not the best auto genetics. I much prefer Diesel Ryder or Automaria or Afghan Kush Ryder. Those are good genetics. That White Dwarf pic was not to show quality but to show that mixed spectrum works well for the autos.
This pic is the last of my Afghan Kush Ryder nuggets. That one in front is nice and frosty white, much better than the WD.

OK those nugs look flippin' great. Have you grown NYCD? If so, how does the autoflowering version stack up? I think it would be interesting to do a side by side with the two using 12/12 from the start, all other variables constant.

It has been 2 or 3 years since I grew the NYCD, and I honestly think the Diesel Ryder can be just as good or better depending on how you grow them. The NYCD will do quite well on 12/12, but the Diesel Ryder will deffinately do worse if you only give them 12/12. If you do the NYCD on 12/12 they will do thier best, but if you want the best DR you should give them 20/04. These two both like the same fertilizers, same soil, same temps, same humidity, just the diesel Ryder want 20/04 from seed to harvest, and finishes weeks sooner. 12/12 for 12 to 15 weeks (New York City Diesel) or 20/04 for 8 to 10 weeks (Diesel Ryder).
