Light warrior from fox farms is a good soil to mix with ocean forest. 1 to 1 ratio is a good mix, but you wont find it a wal-mart though!

Well I had the same thought about this run so I got a bag of canna coco and just a 50/50 of the ffof and coco. Iv heard great things about coco and cana being one of the best. So I wanted a cooler mix than just ffof and wanted to see if I could get the best of both worlds.. soil and soilless.. if u don't have a hydro shop near u I'm sure walmart would have some kinda soiless mix.. I saw a big ass bag of peat I belive for 10 bucks... that should tone it down a lil... hopefuly a guru will chime in and give a experienced reply I just trans 3 this morning so I can't say for sure if its gona work but I don't see why it wouldn't..

sterilize soil - HUH?!?

Why would you want to "sterilize" any soil???
The whole point of soil is to leave the micro-herd intact - so it can begin the process of decomposition (see chiefbig_smoke - I got it now...thanks, bro!) and make various soil components or amendments available for plant use...
A "sterilized" soil is useless to an organic farmer...and if your using FFOF - and paying the extra for all their organic additions - why then would you want to use switch the method of feeding from there...

I used to use just FFOF but it burned me once so I figured better safe than sorry. Plus, the happy frog is cheaper and the bags are bigger that is the main reason im using more of it i add nutes anyway. You will probably be fine if you just make sure to turn the dirt before you pot it. I remember reading someone say doing that to mix up the "hot" spots and you will be fine. I would only suggest to be easy on the nutes with the wee ones.

Haha..gotta say I consider it an honor Dank lol...I guess I should have put emphasis on pasteurzation..not full sterilizing..that way you only killing harmful organisms and insect,larvae,etc....I would never suggest brining in fresh backyard soil into a growroom..and maybe thats all this guy can afford?.....
pasteurization kill maybe half of the soil's microherd..killing mold spores,etc...within time,given ffoc's organic mixture,this microherd will "come back to life" so to speak..
but if this guy wants to introduce all kinds of bad shit into his clean grow room..be my guest and dont pasteruzie nothing..straighth backyard dirt
I suggest rather than trying to kill off anything...merely INCREASE the populations of the beneficials...and then allow them to war it out - the same way it happens in nature. (This is done by making accelerated compost teas, ACT, with the proper ingredients. Lacto tea treatments as well...all not found in your local hydro store for a reason - it just isn't profitable to their sponsors to teach such methods)
REMEMBER...if it is growing good outside, there is a reason...and it usually has everything to do with what is attached to the roots when looking through a microscope.
Can't remove the nature from a natural process and expect to see performance.
Cannabis is just another plant. Sure, it has amazing properties that we utilize -but alas - it is still just another plant - controlled by the same biological forces as ALL plants.
I'm here to demystify the myths...
Side note - one of the COOLEST things I ever did was catch a mating pair of praying mantis - and put them in the room - I had the best garden of my life during the time period they ATE EVERYTHING that crawled or moved...lol...NATURE can not be bested.
Just ask the residents of New Orleans...no amount of engineering or alteration can fix the stupidity of building BELOW sea level...nature will see to that.

thats a whole nother' can of worms...trust me iv heard some crazy conspiracy theories...about the soil thing..i still dont suggest for the bacteria to "duke it out",.,,in the short time frame that they duke it out..fragile precios seedlings can succumb to disease..both fungal and bacterial....they can get attacked by soil born pathogens and pests....all it takes is a few days to find your seedling's stems all mushy..;[

I know this is gonna be difficult...its tough..... but 50% perlite with your ffof will grow the kids nicely through adolescents till become adults. KISS..................smooch!

Pretty simple. Don't use FFOF for starter pots, use 100% Light Warrior for a week or two. My final pots are 60% FFOF-20% chunky perlite-10% Castings-10% light warrior.
The biggest threat of kill by hot soil is early seedling stage day 1-10, to end that threat use Light Warrior.

I just want to add a comment - both of the above recipies should work fine for seedlings. However, there is more ingredients to Phillthy's soil recipie (dunno bout Marlo) than just the two listed above. Just an FYI if anyone's interested.
BTW, if Phil uses just the two for seedlings... please forgive my stoned meddling. Carry on!
All that is sorted out before you ever plant...soil is a living thing. You can give ACT as a preparatory measure...
