Hello

I've got a hydrohut setup in my apartment bedroom. Due to security issues i'm unable to exaust straight out the window, and instead let the hut's exaust air mix with the bedroom air. The window is left open enough at night to keep the huts temps between 70 and 75 w/ lights on. The problem i'm having though is that the rest of the window is getting condensation on it and thats another security issue.

I'm growing 16 plants in a 3'x3' SOG setup, 400W CMH. How big of a dehumidifier would i need in my bedroom just to keep the RH at normal levels? I dont really know how pints/day relates to sq ft. of plants and lights.

YOU are growing in a Rental and have big issues??????????? Maybe your education funds and grants that us olde timers support might be in jeopardy. You have the rest of your life to be old and a bit foolish, it is okay to be young...........unfortunately too many youth pay too high a price for being flagrant. General Honore, the Dude that oversaw the New Orleans Hurricane got down and said "don't get stuck on stupid!"

With all my heart, TyStik

PS: You just acquired your first rented digs (right or wrong?).. Plan first............plan for every thing that can go wrong, stay small and stay free AND when the manager has a KEY to your HOOCH everything your young mind ever formulated and planned for goes down the Shit Drain. :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump:

Actually, i'm a college graduate, been living on my own for years. The thing is unless i wanna pay 4k-5k/month on a mortgage i cant own anything around here. I could pay the mortgage on a few of my relatives houses in the midwest with what this apartment costs me. Could always live in the sticks but the moneys not so good, its all a give and take. Oh, and i wish i coulda got money from the goverment for education. The year i graduated highschool i sent in the FAFSA, and they sent me an evelope back that said Hurry, you only have till XXX day to claim your $0.00 in Goverment Assistance. The plights of having parents that both work decent jobs, but so no worries, your tax dollars were safe.

I have grown before, about 4 rounds in side by side C24 cab's, 400W apiece. In that rental i was also not on the first floor, but i had trees and other things so if the curtains were open noone could see inside. I just left the window open with the exaust pointed at the window. In my new place there is another apartment complex about 40' away, with all their windows looking right at my window. I cant exaust like before with the air going straight out the window because it makes the blinds flutter 24/7, and i cant just leave the blinds open because i dont want all those others staring at me walkin out the shower, capiche? :)

As for the plan when the manager walks in the apartment? Well theres a couple things in place. For one i talk to her at least a twice a week, just random banter to keep the good relations. Second, i changed the locks on the front door, and i changed the door handle to my bedroom with a locking door handle, neither of which she has the key for. Any complaints i will just apologize, get her a copy of the front door key and say I'm paranoid. Third, i am allowed to grow these plants and have a card issued by the county health department saying so.

But back to the dehumidifiers, whats the proper way to estimate the ammount of water the plants are leaving in the air, and how does that relate to the size dehumi i need. To me the room doesn't even feel humid, and theres not large ammounts of condensation, but the small ammount thats there is enough to make me think about it.

if you're legally growing then I wouldn't worry too much about condensation. if you still want to buy one, I'd say go for the cheapest one since it shouldn't be that much humidity

A small and inexpensive humidity meter (humidistat) will give you a reading. Then it is just a matter of adjusting the dehumidifier to keep High for veg and lower for flower. In veg I run about 55% RH and 38% in flower. Elevated humidity in a room can cause serious mold and even damage finishes. Mine, a Whirlpool, 400 watt rated cost around $240, and has a 38 pint capacity as I recall.

As room temps increase so can RH especially when you have a water source in that room. A side benefit is not having to carry as much water to your girls, you can recycle the dehumidifier accumulation back to the girls with no ill effect.

For about 230-240, you can buy the LG unit from Home Depot, 65ish pint capacity, digital control, 5 year warranty

You can also buy the same unit on Ebay for like 130 with shipping refurbed with 90 day warranty
