What seeds would you like to see?

More often than not we have people noticing and posting about incosistencies in today's seed markets, hermaphrodites being more present, improper feminisation, elite pollen chucking and more. There's probably 1000 threads on what people don't want and have issues with. This is not that thread.

What would you, friends and ICmag readers, like to see in today's seed industry? What would make something worth your hard earned dollar? How can we solve the dissatisfaction with the seed market?

I like it when you get exactly what was advertised. Example - they say it's lemon then you get lemon.
And it's nice to be able to communicate directly with the seller.
Lower prices are nice as well.
Just a few things that came to mind.

Lots of people want stability, but I think it's unrealistic to expect most varieties to be true breeding. Sure the market is saturated with polyhybrids and it would be nice to see more stable ibl/heirlooms, but to demand that most cannabis seeds be homozygous is just silly. It will never happen.

I would like to see breeders give more attention to calyx/leaf ratio. I think it's possible to breed cannabis which has no small bud leaves, only fan leaves. Imagine completely eliminating the need for trimming/manicuring just with genetics alone. It will happen eventually. It will improve production efficiency too much for the big companies to ignore. It will also make the raw flowers taste better with just stacked calyxes and no sugar leaves mixed in.

Personally i would like to see more heirloom / land races variety's offered so they could be protected and preserved for future generations.

We saw strain hunters go and collect some important genetics years ago we were told they will be made valuable still weighting ARJAN but what did the strain hunters do they handed the local farmers Fem seed that hermied to grow out with there local variety's and took there valuable strains .

They go to India collect there seed hand over Fem seed come back a year later and see Greenhouse seeds growing with the local variety's in full flower seeded by the hermaphrodites they had handed the farmers the year before.

Consumers have the power not industry if people want better then they should demand it.

This is very doable and I would buy seeds that have this trait.

A plant naturally occuring in our environment need not accrue so much greed. Seeds for experianced gardeners and seeds for folks who are starting out.

reasonably priced s1's of legendary strains ..............nirvana style.............. there no breeding work involved......... just colloidal sliver..... so i don't see why they should command a high price anyway to be frank !!

As a grower I like to grow worked landraces (ok they are no longer landraces) and F1s of worked landraces - these 2 types of seed are readily available...

edit: I'm also very interested in any spg x pure sativa hybrids :)

Part of me would like to see more of what I'm into, but I'm not really sure. Sometimes I enjoy the rarity of something and that actually gives it value.

I'm currently in a Deep Chunk phase, so I'd probably say more DC crosses. I remember reading a post from maybe a decade ago on here (PCK vs Deep Chunk thread, I think) that basically said how DC hybrids were everywhere, you should go with PCK instead. Now, PCK is nearly ubiquitous in colorful plants (and for good reason; it's one of my favorites). Point is, it's funny how the times change and what's all over the place one day is nearly impossible to find the other.

I like to think that most stuff is already available out there, but when we discover the newest thing we didn't know we wanted, we'll know it then.

Sorry for rambling. I'm really high right now.

BXs of clone onlys, cubed even. seems like a handful of breeders take them seriously and put out solid BXs, up to 3 and beyond. but for most part, it has been one big cookie smash chuck party for years. also more work finding recessive phenos from clone onlys. actual selection.....stress testing.....documentation.....

just wish more of my favorites were getting preserved in correct forms. handling clones 24/7 and keeping them alive as a clone is not the most forgiving task, you can kiss your vacation time and social life goodbye lol. ps dont ever let your "friends" take care of your elite cuts while you go on holiday.

I think it would be cool to sell a lot of rareties in one spot...
Like ABC, ducksfoot, Deep Chunk, nevilles haze, big sur holy weed, purpurea tenensis, (butchered that)

Eventually we will need a spot to find all of the strains that are sold today that are being replaced by cookies

I would like to see Breeder Steve come back on the scene for real.
I would like to see Karma team up again with Melting Pot and S1 the Lucifer Og and also do a remake of Old Grandpa Scratch LTD.

that and a seed bank that has a "fruit" section with tried true and tested fruit flavored strains only from legit tested work. I would like to see all the fruit varieties separated into their flavors and be able to seed shop by flavor.
I've grown piles of "fruit" strains from bananas to strawberry, from mango to grape and razzberry to lemon..... lime to papaya and on and on but very few actually taste as advertised or the breeder releases seeds with the actual fruit phenos being the outliers. Hate that shit.
Give me a seedbank dedicted to offering tried and true breeders and their bonafide , stabilized fruit strains and I'll be a happy man

What interested me about deep Chunk was in some interview Bohdi was asked about working with it. He said something like "Deep Chunk is great for learning about breeding because it basically turns everything into Deep Chunk"

And to answer the question:
Lots of what I want is available in certain capacities, like old school strains and worked land races, so my desires are being met more and more these days.

I guess the other thing I would be interested in seeing is some stabilized modern "hype" strains, like MAC or something. I dunno, would just be cool in 20 years to be able to get seeds that would reliably pop into something like that. I figure nostalgia will kick in like it is with 90's strains now, and people are gonna start thinking about all the cool stuff from the US legalization era.
