It's more a matter of grower personality. Either way is fine. Personally, I can't imagine dealing with the mess of soil or coco indoors. Rockwool, with a large enough res in an E&F, allows for topping off the res 1-2 times a month which suits my traveling lifestyle. Once plants are harvested just dump cubes in the trash. Heck, I'm so lazy, I switched to DWC. No cubes or coco to throw out and, as an added benefit, no bugs.

I'm sure someone will come along soon to regale you with the unparalleled wonders and benefits of Coco. You really can't go wrong.

Welcome aboard and break a stem.

If you are an illegal grower, I'd avoid sea of green. More plants=more jail time.

I'll agree with freezer. Rockwool, is not messy, ph neutral, and easy to work with. Easy to transplant, nice for cloning, etc. Most of my friends grow exclusively in rockwool. If you are going non soil make sure you are prepared. PH tester, A reader for PPM, etc. Don't just wing it. Non soil means you have a more severe impact regarding PH and over feeding.

I grow in soil because I only go one plant at a time, so mess is minimal, and as a new grower it gives me some buffer space for mistakes. I feel like so many new growers post "Please help! Why does my plant look like (Insert problem here)" because they try to jump into the deep end right off the bat and they have 999 variables that they can't identify because they don't have the proper equipment, and can't provide complete information to all the helpful people here, leaving a bunch of guess work.

Nice hearty, beginner strain, simple nutes, some light and medium and you can't go wrong.

Different strokes for different folks, homie. Coco vs. cubes and SOG vs. trees......both sides have benefits and down falls.
More info on your set up, space, etc would help more people help you....

I grow exclusively in soil, so I can't extol the merits of either...

What I can say is why not try both? Then you can decide for yourself :)

I love rockwool for all the same reasons as Freezer. It's great stuff if you need to be inconspicuous.

I've switched back an forth between coco and dwc . Good results with both. More work wit the coco since I hand water. But advantage of that is your always monitoring plants. dwc is cleaner for sure no need to water every other day but gotta keep I on ph like stated in past post.
