What postion do you prefer...

For your hoods?
I have 2 Sunsytem2 hoods over a 3x6 table, mounted horizontal.
Would mounting them perpendicular to the table give me a better coverage or foot print?
They're both 600 watts.
I've always done them horizontally but never really thought why except for cooling them but I don't need to cool them so...
Which way are yours?

I think horizontal mount is better for evenly lighting a flat surface like a table. If you're willing to build shelves and arrange your plants into a stadium or bowl shape, a parabolic reflector-vertical mount bulb setup is more efficient because less light is lost into the reflector.

The shade goes across the length of the room. Has to do with your average shade having no endcaps.The shape of a shade directs light down on the plants. But on at the ends, the light is not directed down so you use the walls to contain it.
All this from a guy who chucked out his shade and has gone vertical

It's all good sackoweed, I appreciate the help.
I've always run my hoods the long way over a table but never gave much thought as to why or if theirs better light distribution one way or the other.
I have everything hung already so it'd be a bitch to undo things.
Oh well, let me get out my ladder...
