Hello,

I was wondering if I am gonne buy 12 -
1000W ballasts or 20 - 600W ballasts. The 600W electronic ballast only runs at 1,97amps compared to 4,1 amp for 1000W.

What is better? Plant / yield Gonna run adjust a wing I am thinking about?

12 or 20 lights... with plans like you shouldnt really be asking summink like that.. all depends on what style u want... the 600's are more efficient and with up to 20 lght a lil extra efficiency will make a massive difference

Thousands are better for bud production and full potency. The extra energy is really needed for fruiting.

More importantly,what Darko said, if u don't know that simple option, what the hell r u gonna do with 12 or 20 of them? Maybe you should start with 4 or 6?

and if your doing 12k you sure as shit need to drop a couple grand to get a 100amp in there and everything rewired for 240v...

1000s all the way

former member eminem had a 30000w warehouse (50 x 600s!!!) he was rocking for a little while... his previous grows were 9-11k using 1ks...

he commented after some time with the 600s that he felt the 1000s were better for his application....

i want to say krunchbubble is all about 1000s...

trinty gold (aka dusty bowls/danimal/planty) has said "i dont even know what 600s look like"

i have a friend that was doing 2 4x8 at his place... he started using 3x600s in adjustawings then tried a few crops 1k>600>1k and saw the middle pat of the table was not like the outer parts where the 1ks were... so now hes switched to 1ks for good. and has a bunch of 600w gear taking up space in a garage....

if you are going to go big, go big all the way. you'll only be kicking yourself for falling for the 'effiency' line.

Ya I know I do need to spell lights properly in the title.
The problem is the amps with going for 1000W ballasts (4.1amp) compared to the 600 (1.97amp) I am no electrian. I have grown before but not in this scale. Started with closet then Homebox, continously. So I ain't a complete newb. However three of my best friends are kicking in so we have cash to buy in equipment, however getting oxygen is a tiny problem and will have to do without.

Man Angelus this sounds like a bad start to an even worse story. Your gonna be kicking yourself for doing this with partners. Also whats your plan for using Oxygen when plants "breathe" CO2. Man you sound really green to be undertaking a room of this size. Im not trying to put you down, but you just keep putting your foot in your mouth at every turn. Id get an electrician in there to help you guys out before you blow up your panel. Also if you are so worried about the extra draw from the 1000's you might want to scale down your operation, you might not be ready for the bill that comes along with running a grow of this size

yea no offense buddy but you need to buy a copy of growing for beginers and totally revamp everything. oxygen = bad..you want to move the oxygen out and get co2 in there...reverse of what you want.

you arrent even taking into factor the heat that 12k in lights will produce...whats your air circulation, etc. if you just set up 12k in lights with a few fans your room will hit like 100 degreess and way too much humidity and everything will die..

for the electrical part..i already said what you need. you need to call an electrician and have a new 100amp subpanel installed just for the grow alone. and then you gotta rewire all the rooms and install the proper outlets....will cost more than 2k to get your electrical up to spec....

Up to you... most big growers use 1000's.

600's are better when it comes to light output vs electricity/amps used, but aren't quite as powerful as 1000s.

600's you can place closer to lights, are cheaper to cool and if you're shooting for the same 12,000watts, the 600 will give you a bigger footprint for light...

It's really up to you.

go with lumatek 1000 watts ballasts...if you dont like the 1000s and feel like your wasting energy...dial them down to 600.

I would go 1k's with standard ballasts. Take the money saved from that, and buy some magnum xxl hoods, or at least yieldmasters. Eff that adjust a wing shit. Eff partners too! A 10k would be a nice personal garden. If you do go through with it... MAKE A JOURNAL!

What will you be growing for strains? You better have alot of clones rooted and waiting while you are building the spot.

and a 600's efficiency really doesn't mean shit when you have to buy almost double the ballasts, bulbs and reflectors. And then you have to hang and be able to adjust all those reflectors....It would just cost more time and money, No thanks!

A lot of people here recommending 1000's are American, as that's their bulb of choice for bigger grows.

600's are the most used in the UK/Europe, and that's what I recommend.

Advantages:

-cheaper to buy 600W ballasts and bulbs (ballasts £50, bulbs £20 each or less in bulk)
-easier to find 600W ballasts and bulbs readily available
-higher light output per watt than 1000's
-less intensive light so better against helicopters in urban environments sometimes
