what is your thoughts about magnetic switchable ballasts?

Im about to start getting some new equipment, and wanted to go with a 1000w hps/mh switchable. Im not really wanting to get a digital ballast since I cant drop that amount of money on that yet. I read on here something about the watts or volts between the hps/mh are different and its suggested not to buy magnetic switchables. as you can see, i dont have much information on this and thats why Im posting this to educate myself. any input and reasoning would be great. thanks IC!

I've never really heard anyone complain about problems with switchable magnetic ballasts. (aside from the humming) I guess it would depend on which ballast you're looking at.

I agree with John Buy a good switchable and you will be fine. Me I like the regular ballast kits. Way cheaper and very easy to hook up. It looks daunting but its really simple, IMO you could buy a HPS kit and a MH kit for like half of what that switchable is gonna cost.

You do know that to be a grower means your a Plumber, carpenter, electrician, and horticulturalist all in one!
