what is this?

ok, I have plants on the go and one has slightly stunted growth, going yellow, little rust spot on one leaf, the rest are ok for now, I was looking through the coco though because one seed didnt break ground, there was a tiny maggot like thing on the seed, so I thought fungus gnats, tossed the pot out. I looked around the other plants and in the coco theres tiny round glass-like balls, i took a few out and they cracked like glass, tell me these arent egg's :frown:

the plants are all 3-4 days old.

If they are fungus gnat eggs you won't have long to wait.

They hatch to larvae, (maggots), the larvea pupate for , I think 3 days but don't quote me, best look it up.
The adult gnats do not damage the plants. They just mate, lay eggs n die .
The maggots feed mostly on decaying matter in soil.
but will eat tiny feeder root hairs and stunt or kill seedlings
when they run out of decaying matter.

In coco, all they have to eat is root.

I'd be very surprised if a Fungus gnat's egg was big enough to see though.

From what you describe, those sound like snail or slug eggs.
Squish 'em!

Aloha and :2cents:

I guess theres nothing much I can do but wait and see, in what numbers would I expect to see the larvae?

Its been over a year since my last grow, as I said, the leaves on one are turning a lighter green, cotydylons going yellow, little rust spot on one leaf, some yellow in between the veins, maybe im just getting crazy paranoid, god I hope so!

If they are slugs or snails they will look like a tiny maggot at hatch, but will grow rapidly.
They will also leave slime trails.
Shine a flashlight across the top of the pots at a low angle.
If you see slime trails, follow them.

The symptoms you describe may not be related to the "eggs"
(Oh, BTW, Miracle grow makes a fert that looks and breaks like little glass balls.)

Suggest you take some closeup photos and upload them to your album.
Then give as much pertinent information as you can about your setup. Temps, PH of runoff, lights, water, etc.
Be aware that coco can get weird fast so you have to monitor your runoff water closely.

There is some serious talent hanging about on these forums.
Eager to help.
But ya gotta help them help you, ya?
