Some say it's a reworked Master Kush....whatever that means cuz what's Master Kush other than the seedbank strain? Some say it's related to bubba...It looks related. Hopefully someone can come with the lowdown.

Kush Information
(Thanks to Texas Kid,who compiled it!)

The Hindu Kush mountain system in central Asia extends for 1,000 km (600 mi) in parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan. With about two dozen peaks surpassing 7,000 m (23,000 ft), the range reaches its highest point in Pakistan’s highlands, where the peak known as Tirich Mīr rises 7,690 m (25,230 ft) above sea level.

The Hindu Kush, which marks the fault line of the Iranian and Eurasian tectonic plates, runs more or less from the east to the west, and many small rivers run down from its slopes to the north, deposeting sediments on the foothills and the plain that runs parallel to the mountain range. Consequently, this is a very fertile area, where farmers produced wheat and barley in very ancient times.

The Hindu Kush, Hindū Kūsh, Hindoo Koosh or Hindukush (Persian: هندوکش, Hindi: हिन्दु कुश) is a mountain range in Afghanistan as well as in NWFP and Northern Areas of Pakistan. It is the westernmost extension of the Pamir Mountains, the Karakoram Range, and the Himalaya.

Here's a map that shows you the location of the Hindu Kush range:

And here's a picture of the Hindu Kush:

Wikipedia has a good article that throws some light on the Kush hype:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kush_(herb)

Kush refers to a family of cannabis strains, belonging to the genus C. indica, that originated in the Hindu Kush region. It has been heavily domesticated and interbred since its discovery by Western society, thus none can be sure of its exact ancestry. Due to its indica genetics, kush grows into a short, thick plant, with one main cola (as opposed to sativa strains, which usually produce multiple stalks). Kush is widely revered by cannabis users for its pungent aroma, pleasant taste, and high THC content.

Characteristics

Kush itself refers not to a single strain of cannabis, but a vaguely defined family of strains, and there are many types. However, almost all kush strains share common characteristics and qualities that distinguish them from other strains of cannabis. Most kush possesses a powerful sweet and spicy aroma, differing among types but easily recognizable. Like many other potent cannabis strains, kush produces extraordinary numbers of trichomes, the tiny exterior glands responsible for THC-production. Coloration varies by strain and growing conditions - the buds usually exhibit colors of green, orange or purple, with colors tending to be more bright and vibrant than average cannabis buds. When cured properly, the buds are large, soft, and resinous, breaking easily into small bits (a quality cherished by many smokers). The general structure of a kush bud is one of its most recognizable characteristics, as the leaflets are stubby and short, and the buds curl tightly into themselves - most cannabis is denser, darker, with less trichomes, and has more free-ranging leaves.

Strains

Kush has been bred and interbred by Western growers since as early as the 1940's, and as such many of the current kushes are not original strains, having been created in the past century. Nobody knows which strain, if any, fathered the wide array available today, however its geography places kush in the running as one of the oldest (and thus subject to natural selection for longer) cannabis types in existence. The list below includes hybrids (strains crossed with other types of cannabis, such as sativa). Since cannabis has been illegalized in the US, the terminology and strain names are unregulated, sometimes causing multiple names to surface for a single strain, or even completely fictional names. As such the strains are divided into two categories: those that definitely exist, and those that may be one-off generations or merely slang.

Confirmed Strains

* Og Kush
* Hindu Kush
* Bubba Kush
* California Kush
* Pure Kush
* Orange Kush
* Master Kush
* Lavender Kush
* Purple Kush (also POG, PK x OG K.)
* Grandaddy (Purple) Kush
* Kushage (a S.A.G.E. hybrid)
* Afghan Kush (sometimes known as AK, not to be confused with AK-47)
* Blueberry Kush (not to be confused with Blueberry, a separate cannabis strain)
* BC Kush
* Rasta Kush

Unconfirmed Strains

* Olive Shack Kush
* Kotton Kandy
* Candlestick Kush
* Pink Kush
* Sour Kush (possibly a cross with Sour Diesel/ChemDawg)
* Mango Kush
* Evergreen Kush (most likely a cross between straight DNUG/Northern Lights)

Lol
That's some pretty funny shit!!!

I can confirm......Mango Kush is a REAL Kush. It's no longer "Un-confirmed"
Hilarious stuff.

Anyone can look at a bud, smell it, and taste it, and (if it's not grown right) say, "aahh this is not so and so...." ....but if you've ever looked at, smelled, and tasted my Mango Kush, and said "ahhh, it's not real Kush, then you have never smoked REAL kush"

Just wanted to clear up any possible confusion here....it made me laugh pretty hard, especially after having just smoked some of this.....

CTG, there is a strain called Grandaddy Kush... I don't know why they have it listed as "Grandaddy (Purple) Kush" but it exists... It exists... commercial Kush if I've ever seen one...

* Purple Kush (also POG, PK x OG K.)
LOL! That's probably why DDanko thought PK had OG in it... Some people...How could a strain be a cross in and of itself?

Oh and Nandro, regarding the Pure Kush... He is talking about the strain called "Pure Kush" which is common in some clubs and parts out here... not the purity of the genetics from the region you speak of...

Wish I knew the origin of Pure, Purple, Orange, Lemon-Lime, Raspberry... all of em actually...mmm Kush.... time to visit the Bong

keep it green all

DDanko doesn't,generally,know jackshit.
Being the 'cultivation editor' for high crimes doesn't make you an expert,in fact,his recent posts concerning Chemdog Family Lines and True Kushes showed how ignorant he is on the subject of breeding.
He thought he did me some huge solid by getting the KKSC cut to me,but he forgets that in return,he got The Sour Diesel Clone,which,as HT cultivation editor,he couldn't even get his hands on,in the middle of NYC,unless he had the ten G's they charged,at the time,for a cut.
I got it to him for free.
(You're welcome,ya fuckin' ingrate.
Oh,how soon they rush to whine,especially since I pissed a rainstorm on their (again) half-assed 2006 HTCC with my reporting.
So,there you have it,a True Assesment: Danko doesn't know shit,and all the celebrity smokeouts and glossy pics of ramps in Amsterdam won't change that.
Like apples,Danny?
How ya like them apples? :D

Cheers!

Cat kettle black, anyone? This guy shouldn't be allowed into Kush threads, lol... Can't believe you crossed so many strains to Hindu Kush... And are releasing them as a "Kush line"... Not even gonna comment on the "feminised" lol...Bring that mess out here and get laughed at.

I'm worried about all these crosses to a Hindu Kush and tacking "xxxxxxx Kush" onto the name... SSH to Hindu Kush should be a decent cross but I'm sure it won't have that overhwelming Kush smell and taste Kush lovers expect from a Kush strain.

BTW Sour Diesel isnt even all that great man... I can't believe you cashed in so much on it.. takes a business man I guess... Or some sheep... LOL

Peace all

That wikipedia article is fucking hilarious. The only thing acurate about it is the geography lesson.

"Genus canabis indica" cannabis indica is not a genus. Depending upon who you cite cannabis indica is either a species or subspecies.

"...tiny exterior glands" hashplants of the hindu kush tend to have large glandular trichomes but not always.

"Most cannabis is denser and darker" I don't know where he gets this denser/darker stuff from.

Its funny that he doesn't even mention one real hindu kush strain or region in the list of kush strains. I'm thinking it was witten by the same wanker who wrote the og kush wiki article. The landraces of the kush mountains can range from pure sativa to pure indica and can be fiber plants, food plants or drug plants grown charas or hashish.

there have been many half-truths and whole-truths presented here as facts but here is every apple in one basket:

the pure kush is actually the G-13 mystery parent and the answer to every question beginning with "what strain is best for..." it originates in a mountain valley in pakistan and is grown by a goat herder named hamib saah nir kush grandson of the distinguished breeder and rural marketing guru omar kushkush saag kush who amazingly trademarked the terms "kush" and "pure kush" on his only posthumous trip to the united states in 1993.

as i recently purchased the entire kush estate in a private government auction to which i have only a handshake agreement with the tri-partite alliance of the u.s., pakistan, and icmag, i am hereby ordering all persons participating in this thread to cease and desist using the term "kush" or "pure kush" or reproducing any likeness of any plant from the genus canabis indica without the expressed written consent of me, muddy waters, sole proprietor of the only legally licensed kush.

i hope this hasn't dampened anyone's enthusiasm about my lovely varieties soon appearing in jumbo 6 packs, including famous rumored strains like granddaddy purple kush and original gangster kush, first bred by rapper, oscar-award-winning actor, and strictly organic cultivator of 4 decades, Ice-T.

Sorry im baked. My thoughts on the subject at hand Pure Kush originates in da Nor-Cal region and can be found almost exclusivly int ight grow circles or high end movers in So-Cal. I highly doubt hollyweird co ops have seen any "REAL" P.K. By the way by high end i mean 600$ plus fer zip. :joint:

Kush

There I said it!

I'll say it again!

Kush

Kush, kush, kush, kush,
kushy kushy kush kush,
and a kush kush here, and a kush kush there, here a kush kush, there a kush kush, everywhere a kush kush, old MacDonald had a farm eee, eye, eee eye, oh, and on his farm he had some kush, eee eye , eee eye oh....

oh, and by the way, I own several "kush" domain names, and they are all registered privately, so if you can guess which ones,...you still can't have them, but if you can guess which ones, and take me to court, beat me, AND avoid my countersuit, you might be entitled to them afterall.

Yep, its rather broad sweeping... lol

The terms 'Hindu Kush', and 'indica' are generic words.

Hindu Kush - vast region stretching from Afghanistan, across Pakistan NWF, S. Tajikistan and S.W. China

indica - used to describe varieties of cannabis falling in the lands to the 'west' of the River Indus.

Mel Franks suggests that - "Afghan* and Kush are often interchangeable, and growers interchange the names enough so that either description may apply. Kush are generally slightly taller than Afghan* and the leaves are between Afghan* and sativas in both broadness of blades and in color."

*Franks uses the word Afghani which is the Afghan currency.
The correct use being Afghan or 'afghanica', as in something from Afghanistan.
The term 'Afghansty' is also sometimes used with soviets.
