What is the most potent, most efficient grams weed to sticks butter ratio?

Or, with oil?

I'm interested in knowing just how much you can saturate a given amount of butter or oil without losing THC to waste (since the medium became saturated and no more THC could bind, for example)

Good question, butter will absorb a lot of THC. I don't know the optimum or maximum ratio though.

I recently made a batch of butter with trim. I used what I thought was about the same amount of trim that I had in the past but increased the butter to twice as much (4 sticks instead of 2) This was because the last batch was too potent, I could only eat half a brownie at a time a full one was too much. So I figured twice as much butter would be perfect and dilute the THC to be just right for one brownie to be the dose.

Well for one reason or another after baking with this batch of butter the brownies didn't cut it. Too much butter I guess, it took 2 brownies to get high.

Now I had quite a bit of butter left over and didn't want to add twice the butter to the next batch of brownies to compensate so i decided to cook the butter again with more trim.

I used the last of the trim I had saved and cooked it again in the crockpot for a couple of hours. Then i made another batch of brownies with the twice cooked butter.

This batch really kicked my ass. I started out with eating only half of a brownie as a test and in an hour I couldn't get off the couch. Too potent again!

So I now have this batch in the freezer and the perfect dose is only 1/4 of a brownie.
I won't need to make anymore for quite a while but when I do I'll use a fraction of the butter which is left. The recipe calls for 1/3 cup of oil (or butter ) and I will probably only put in a couple of tablespoons of the cannabutter and the rest will be regular oil.
I still would like to get it perfected where 1 brownie would be the perfect amount.

I guess the moral of my story is butter can absorb a lot of THC, more than you really want or need. I have never made butter from actual buds but you could end up wasting good smokable bud if you use too much. Being that I use trim I'm not worried about wasting it as it is just a bonus from my small grows.

Hey Bro  .I have made butter for my dying Father a year back, and wanted it super strong for him(never smoked at all)./Most Med grade edibles and Space Cakes and stuff use Kif,they want it Med grade.Im not that rich,so i used small buds with no fans and //SOME// Kif,lol.I added about 3 grams of Kif and 89gms of sweet trim to 6 sticks of butter.well,it was too strong for him.It totaly relieved any and all pain, but it made him loopy and intoxicated to the point of passin out n dizzy. So next time i used no Kif,cuz the first time even i tryed it myself, and it even blew me away.So what im saying is,when you use Kif instead of trim then eatin it,its a whole nother ball game, lol,i know yer no amatuer and have a high tolerance probably, but i was just sayin :bashhead: .So for 4 sticks of butter,i think a gram of Kif a stick(of killer Kif)would be good but not killya, unless youre going for the gold :headbange ,then imo,use a 1/4 z,the most expensive, and tastey butter in the World Bro,lol.Have fun makin it people,i love makin Butter.Just another way to use up every bit of our great healing plant :rasta: .I cant remember what Coffe House, but they were showin the big bin of Kif they were dumpin in to make the SpaceCakes, but it was a shitload :rasta: ,those peeps right there were prob the whole reason they want SpaceCakes banned for touristas lol :jump: . Peace and stay safe,PVP

we use 70 grams of trim to 4 sticks of butter. Half of a small cookie does the trick and a full cookie is a wild ride. everyone loves our cookies.

i made betty crocker brownie cookie bars using 1.5 grams of bubblehash in an 8 x 8 pan then cut into 9 squares. they were off the freakin hook! and tasted really good. for the most part you could not tell that they were loaded except i took one bite that tasted like hash and one of my coworkers actually smelled the hash. a good long body high that felt like it grabbed the back of your head. i run all my trim and not so good buds through the bubble bags and then use the less desirable grades for cooking. i highly recommend betty crocker brownie cookie bar mix because it tastes good, takes butter (no oil) and cooks at 325 degrees using 1.5-2.0 grams hash per stick of butter.

i made my first batch of Cannabutter last week...
i woke up, and made 2 peices toast with cannabutter...
in about 30 mins, i could tell i had a buzz going on.. but not as strong as i was looking for.
so next time = less butter, AND more trim.

BUT... ive heard its not meant to effect the taste of the butter, but i can really taste it.. and today, i made 3 peices of toast... but i couldnt eat the last one coz i couldnt handle the taste anymore..

Did i do something wrong that made the taste come out like that?...
i doubt straining it more would help... other than getting some more leave matter out..

ideas welcome. i have about 2 oz of trim left to get a better batch.

Nz, the first time you process the butter it has all the cholophyll in it, thats what gives it the taste.

If you reboil the butter with water but don't add more trim, and let it simmer for 20-30 min, and let the water and butter separate again, it will take some more of the taste out, if you do this about 3-4 times, the taste is almost all gone.

when we're doing a batch of " hardcore - butter " , we like to mix it with normal butter to reduce the nasty flavor ... ,as well as i dont like the greenish color on my toast/etc ... :) if youre cooking with it its no problem ... , but i dont want to see it :D

thanx alot man! i took your advice, and did the process again.
it worked great. i just now had 2 peices of toast, and the taste was VERY mild.

.. ill let ya know about the high in a few mins!

so, the longer it simmers, with cook off the chloriphyl? but as long as the water/butter simmers, and doesnt boil, the THC will always remain in tact huh?...

i love it!
i have over an Oz of shake left.. and 1 pound of butter!
i will be trying my 2nd batch soon enough!

To get rid of the plant taste, I suggest making hash or butane oil and using that in butter/cooking instead of boiling herb or trim straight in butter or oil.

I don't ingest pot orally but this would be the route I would take.

I use one ounce of prime bud to every pound of butter. Gets me absolutely blazed.

I also use about the same amount.

Last time i did this, i baked two batches of cookies with the butter. Then I went to the Toronto zoo and ate all of them with my 2 friends. We were so retarded by the end of it, it was ridiculous.

I strongly recommend this for situations like this. I was so glad i brought the cookies. I had brought a dozen joints for the day as well, but couldn't smoke em there cuz of all the kids. I think i only puffed like 4 or 5.

What has worked pretty well for me. I took an ounce of very nice sativa buds and did 2 30 second washes with isopropyl alcohol which I then reduced to get about 4 grams of concentrate. I put that into a small glass bottle and then added two tablespoons of butter to that. I then set it in hot water to melt them together and shook real well, then took a empty can of tuna and half filled it with cat litter, so that I might set the glass bottle in it, and not have to worry about it tipping over. Used a digital thermometer to check the temp very carefully to make sure it is stable and put my tuna can with the cannabutter in the oven at 235 degrees for 45 minutes. After it cooled, one can see the solids separate and using a eyedropper, I pulled the thin dark top off of the solids and put that in another container. I think of that as the good stuff. Then I add another 2 tablespoons of butter and reheat and shake well again and when it separates I again pull the thinner layer and put that in a different container and think of it as my seconds. The second one is weaker obviously, but each is pretty pretty nice. To consume it, I pull it out of the freezer and heat it in cup of water which I run under the hot water tap in the sink until it as all melted . It usually just takes a minute or so, then I use a small syringe to take off what I need. I go with sublingual consumption and one ml is a monster, half of a ml is pretty effective for me. I have a pretty high tolerance, and this works out pretty well for me. I can usually feel the effect within 10 or 15 minutes. Oh yes, the leftover solids , I would split it in two, and eat in a single session. It did not seem to have much activity left to it though.

I find that a very easy rule of thumb is to use only enough coconut oil or butter to evenly coat the plant material. All the fat should be absorbed--i.e., your bud matter should not be sitting in a big pool of oil at the bottom of the pan. This results in a small amount of extremely potent cannabutter. It can be added to the regular butter in a recipe but is far too potent to be used as the only butter in a recipe.
