Sometimes, But i liked it better when i could sort through OG's bullshit or go straight to ic for consistent great threads being updated daily.

I get bored sifting through heaps of nonsense to find a good post with intellegent discussion.

I'm fairly sure icmag is the largest current site online that concentrates purely on growing cannabis info ,,,,,the others that Rosy posted are well past their best days or are not purely grow orientated like icmag is (but not that I've visited them in years as the info was basic and the ratio of post from the indiotic and juvenile to posts of decent reading/good original info on cannabis was way too wide to bother with)

but you all haven't mentioned www.everyonedoesit.com ...a UK site ....it has by far the largest current online forum number of posters at the one time....there are 3 or 4 thousand online at any one time....it's enormous!..but the level on info/advice/etc is basic to say the least...most of it is just re-vegged crap from here and OG... and even then they don't get it right!, or every second post is about UK soap bar hash (those silly buggers!) but it has some good topical UK info and is more a smoker's site rather than a grower's site...I haven't been there for awhile either

.................on Overgrow.com

OG was the one..every other site before, during and after OG was a mere shadow of what it was....I was posting there (under another name) when you could read all the post in one day in a few hours ...lol...and up until you couldn't read 1% of the posts on one forum!

~Shabang~ made the magic happen on OG....took it and helped develop it from a dozen posters to thousands ....it was the Edge (lol) in many ways ...then it got bigger.....anyone who passes judgement on OG as being too full of kiddie, wanker posts unfortunately got to discover it a few years too late......like all civilisations, they rise, have a peak, then they decline by imploding slowly and then sometimes all of a sudden...I was there to the bitter end.

OG at it's peak had a magic ....it grew as online forums first appeared and developed....no where else could you get info instantly via your modem..it was trend setting and revolutionary....OG developed as digital cameras went from rare to common.....countless thousands of people learnt to bring a few seeds to harvest - very successfully 'cos of OG..I'm sure OG has a special place in their hearts too.....it had a wonderful positive energy..it was by far 10 times the largest grow site online in it's day...to judge OG on it's last few years is like judging a party at 3 am in the morning when there's only a few stragglers left and the party has lost it's magic.....

I'll always miss OG..but many of those who helped made OG what it was are now part of icmag ....they are too many to mention..(and some you won't recoqnize as they have changed their names)...I was mentor on OG for many years under different names....I still miss OG in it's heyday and have very fond memories of my many years of daily posting and reading there...sure there were lots kids, ratbags, self promoters, sycophants, seed sluts, users, those with egos as big as Texas and wankers......but you could choose to read good posts from decent posters selectively or get sucked into the negative bs and other crap.....the choice was yours..I spent most of my time in the hash forums..anyway..there, here or anywhere, it's always best to take the HIGH road!

Icmag.com is very similar to Overgrow.com in many ways....where else online can you get to read posts from for example Sam the Skunkman, the man who bred Skunk back in the 60's and posts from many other very knowledgable posters? (once again, too many to individually mention)...there are other much smaller sites that are purely for growers, but they tend to attract a very small number of posters (and half of them have ego problems, addicted to the best next strain or have ugly hidden agendas!)

if you are interested in growing cannabis then www.icmag.com is arguably the best site online for you...but then again, reading that here, you probably already know that!

well said "chamba"

I was on OG for a few years myself, and when "hightimes" magazine got on board the shit went downhill fast.

I loved overgrow, but I def. like ICmag better, It's a bit more "pure" in grow content.

The people here "are who they are"- "generally", and I don't find too many w/ "hidden agendas"...and I'm a master at picking them out.

My bro who kiked me down my MTF cut was an OG member from pretty much day 1 (and was a grower since the very early 80's), and he refuses to join another grow site since OG's demise.

on OG you could post a question, and have 5 responses before you even saw the immediate initial post you made....but then you'd have to wade thru some garbage and do more research to figure out if what you were being told was legit.

All of the "great" breeders have a forum here....doesn't that say a TON! Not even OG had such a thing (you had to go to CW "cannabis world" if you wanted to talk to breeders) which was OG related, but not OG.

Gypsy and the mods here are set on keepin' this site "SOLID", and I'd rather have that than have it turn into a kiddie playground like OG ended up.

NO other grow site even deserves mention in my eyes.

Don't be so quick to downgrade the other sites. Grasscity does have a online paraphernilia shop, but their grow forums have more members and threads than ICmag. All the info posted (by me) refers only to the sites' grow and cultivation forums, even if some of the sites have other activities (which IC has too).

Cannabis.com is probably the oldest grow/cultivation site online, it predates Overgrow in any case. Shabang did - as you said - transform OG into a superior site, through some clever tuning many other sites have since copied.
As to idiotic and juvenile posting, OG had far more of that than any other site up to date, but was still the best.

I do miss OG and the variety that site offered, but I think it's better to have a large number of small sites. It makes it harder for LEO to control and surveil the community, especially since the servers are spread out in a number of different countries. Even if you prefer one site, it doesn't mean you have to fall into petty tribal thinking. There are many awesome growers and grow info to be found in other sites, and many old friends from OG went to some of these sites after its demise. Site wars is crap and detrimental to the cause, IMO.

Talk to the admin and see if he can somehow filter out the word "OG" for ya, because I think it will be talked about for years to come.

Once in a while something rare comes along; OG was the Woodstock of cannabis cultivation sites. Things change, but memories last.

As to OG being dead, well... it's flat-lined, but all you have to do is to get the servers back online, and it's a go.

Overgrow isn't dead,, as it can never die, cause we're still here, and there. Just as you are reading this thread now alongside Overgrow community members, the OG spirit lives on.

The downing of OG made the online community stronger, and yet ever more resilient towards systems of oppression, misinformation, and industrial malice. Over 1million users don't just vanish into thin air!!

good points doc  (what doesn't kill us makes us stronger)

on the censorship thing...im actually surprised that "planet ganja" remains in this thread even tho it's not promotional. That usually just gets removed fast (no thanks to pom).

And now that the "F" word is banned watch what happens when I type the name of my alltime favorite strain.... "Matanuska Thunder****"

I say fine ban the "F" word, I can spell it a hundred other ways, but I sure wish "thunder****" wasn't censored its a legit strain and big part of some of our lives.

Some of those figures regarding membership aren't that useful I think. Take grasscity for example, it states that there's more members than here. Well, if that's true, then not too many of them post, because that was one of the reasons I started posting my grow journal here and not there. It is like a graveyard over there on the grow journals section. And it's mostly first timers and kids.
