What is the CFM of this Dayton blower (excellent pics)

hey guys ...I'm busy gathering all the equipment that I'm gonna use to build a new cab. (a more stealth one than my current ones).

I got this Dayton blower donated to me from a friend at work for my "airbrush booth" LOL ....(it was FREE so the price is right!!)

It appears to be a slightly older model, and the CFM is not on the tag, and a google search for the specific model # turned up nothing.

I compared it to some newer models from grainger, and it compares very close to this one (dayton shaded pole blower blower model# 4c447....which is 265 CFM)

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/productIndex.shtml

The model# of mine is IC982B (its on the label, but too far to the right to see in the pic)

Mine is very sim.:
OVERALL DIMENSIONS: to the one in the link there is 1/2" dif. here and there (mine being slightly smaller)

WHEEL DIAMETER: is the same (5 1/4")

INLET DIAMETER: is the same (4 5/8")

RPM: mine is 1570 (the one in the link is 1610)

FULL LOAD AMPS: mine is 1.23/1.0 (the one in the link is 1.95/1.86)

OUTLET DIAMETER: mine is (3 3/8" X 3") (the one in the link is 4 1/8" X 3 11/16")

all other criteria either won't make a difference, or are equal to the one in the link.

I'm trying to figure out the size to make my carbon scrubber hence the need to know the CFM (I'm gonna make the DIY scrubber as posted by "durban poison")

If anyone knows the size to make the scrubber for this fan that would help too.

sorry for such a long post for such a seemingly simple request, but it bugs me when people ask for info like this and they do NO footwork on their own...I've done all I can and posted all I can so hopefully someone can help soon...(I wanna get my scrubber materials tomorrow)...

I would assume that its gotta be about the same as the one I researched, but I dont know how significant those minor differences are gonna be.

Thanks for the help guys!!!

oh..heres those pics of mine

Noticed the oil sticker... do inline centrifugal fans require oiling or other maintenance?

I hear ya bro...I hate when packaging has ubiquitous fonts where 0's and O's, I's & 1's and I's and L's look the same. The only thing that made me think about it was all of the models at grainger started with a number and I got lucky and happened to stumble across it before searching all 70+ pages of dayton fans :yoinks:

CT - Inlines should be lifetime lubricated via sealed bearings, but I think I've heard of 1 or 2 that needed oiling...my Elicent doesn't need any maintenance tho - if that helps ya any.

Wonder how big of a deal it is to regularly oil those squirrel cage fans? I ran mine (4c447's) for several years without ever lubing them and it didn't seem to affect them. Guess that means the next time I break them out, they'll be frozen up :pointlaug

Good find on the freebie fan tho...hope to see it in action in the near future :D
