What is the cause???

:1help:First time grower. I have been reading a ton on this forum, and I haven't figured what is causing this. All the plants seem to be fine, but the two(ICE). All are fed from the same res.

Problem is going only a few days
strain: ICE(PROBLEM PLANT), Crystal, White widow
From SEED
Plants are 10days in VEG
(hydro with Rockwool 4" cubes)Drip system to res(10gal)
T5 8 bulbs(432watts), 10inches from tops 24/7
water temp 68 F
Humidity 55%
Room Temp 73 F
canopy temp 78 F
Air stone in res (don't know cfm)
ppm 440(my tap water is 680ppm)
ph 6.0
RO water(20ppm)
CalMag
GH 3 part nutrients(not Lucas formula, 1/4 strength as direction state)
Feeding 3 times a day(30mins), just changed to twice a day last night
NO PESTS

I don't know if its your problem, but I never feed plants that young... have always read its not really neccessary until the coytl(sp) leafs fall off, although I usually start feeding before that.

It is always necessary to feed plants in the first week of life. Not doing so is cheating your plant. Those look ok to me man. Those two might have got a lil nute burn. Feed your plants but remember when they are seedlings you just dont feed as heavy.

I took these pictures last night(26th). The plants are 2.5" tall, and seem to be doing good. I had to cover the rockwool I was getting algae. So I thought foil would work great, and reflect some light back at the plants. I slowed the water down, I haven't watered them for just about 36hrs now. The cubes have a good amount of moisture still as of last night, I'm letting them dry out. I put drippers on the the end of the hoses too(2gph) for when I start the watering back up. I will monitor this very closely this time making sure the cubes are almost dry before the next watering.....

Next grow, I will use net pots with growrox instead of 4" rockwool cubes.

Leason learned!!:wallbash:

For flowering I'm using a ebb & flow(buckets w55gal res). So I will use these cubes and put them in hydroton, but cover the tops of the cubes with hydroton(above the water line to prevent algae) in the ebb & flow.

Will there be any issues with that?

Give your seedligs a PH of 5.8 (that's the PH of rain water).

Do NOT feed them anything until those little seedling leaves at the bottom turn brown and die.

Before your FIRST feeding, come here on the forum and ask what nute strength you should give them on the hydro forum when you start to feed them.

Do not follow the directions on the bottle, or a grow book, video, etc. Come here and ask real hydro growers what strength to start feeding them and the exact PH and also give the strain.

Also, get a plastic see through katchup bottle and put your water in there and squirt them on the cubes lol. You don't have to assemble a drip system for seedlings hehe..

You're plants will make it through this fine.

Horrible advice telling people not to feed their seedlings. You must like jenky lil plants that dont blow up. Dont cheat yourself. If you allow your seedlings lower leaves to turn brown and die before you feed you obviously dont know how to feed plants and shouldnt give others advice on feeding.

you dont need to feed the plants the first couple of weeks they have stored up energy in their cotyledons. all you're doing feeding em this early is burning em. thats what those burnt tips on your plants mean. overfed.

not overfed

not overfed

the burn there is from the nute on the leaf in the light
not overfeeding
gh flora at 1:1:1 at 1/4 strength is good food for the seedlings first few days
now bring it up to 1000 - 1200 ppm
max out at around 1500 ppm at a ph of 5.7 - 6.2
use gh's diamond nectar

Here is how things turned out since I last checked in:

Changed to rez out(3/27) and started with the Lucas formula.
RO water(20ppm) I added cal-mag 1/4 strength(1.5mil/gal)= 90ppm

Then I added GH micro/bloom 2.5/5 mil per gal =510ppm PH 6.0

The plants are doing great(see pics). Feeding them 2 twice a day(with the 2 gal/hr dripers). Since then the ppm checked was at 440ppm and ph 6.0, and the rez has lost about 1 1/2 gals(10gal rez) as of last night(3/30). I'm going to increase the ppm here on the next rez top off to 650-700ppm. As you can see the plants on the right are better then the plants on the far left. The plants are 5-White widow(right),5-Crystal(middle), and 4-Ice(left). So I think that the WW and Crystal grow good together.

^^Thanks....I went to 640ppm(5/10 lucas formula) and the PH 5.8. I will check it tomorrow am and see how things are. The plants being 17 days old won't that be ok?? I know that you need to watch and see what your plants want, but looking at the average in this forum is what I'm saying. The RW cubes are drying pretty good before the next watering. I was watering them too much before which I think help create the leaf issue before, along with to strong for plants.

Checked the plants this am, and the ppm dropped 40ppm over night. So the plants are taken in the nutrients well. The root growth is going crazy, they are all over the bottom, side and coming up threw the top now.

When should I transfer to 2.5 gal buckets with hydroton(plants are 4-6" tall)?? I have concerns with the roots being exposed out of the RW cubes(4").

My plan was to put the plants in the buckets and keep them in veg till they were about 16-18" tall. Then move the buckets into the flowering room(ebb&Flow system).
