What is the best way to separate butter from weed?

I struggled with straining the hot butter from leaf for a while. My fingers got really hot. Plus I didn't think I was really straining it very well.

I have one of these juicers:

It spins REALLY fast. The pulp is dry when I toss it. Now I am confident that I am straining my leaf properly. And I don't burn my fingers.

If you like to cook a lot you have to try this. It saves time and is so easy.
I always look for these kind of juicers when I go to a garage sale, for a gift for one of my stoner friends.

Sweet!!

i've always found those over-sized steel strainers to do the job. you can find them at safeway...theyre high quality...just sit it on a bowl and strain away...does a real good job at keeping the plant matter out, easy to clean up.

Ok, looks like I'm the only one even using a MACHINE of any kind. I was hoping someone would have perfected somekind of method that was better than that.

If you're cooking a good amount of butter, then you need a good method to strain it. I think the juicer is optimal.

I know what you mean SK, I think we leave a lot of thc behind with the cheesecloth & strainer method, or at least I do. I twist the cheesecloth until it finally rips sometimes, and there is still butter in the herb. I saved a batch and ate some, and got off on it, so I confirmed my suspicion.

I saved the last four herb/butter balls in the freezer. I am gonna buy a cheap coffee maker and try it without any filter, just a screen rig. I figure to put a gallon [4 qts, one at a time] through each ball and see how much butter I end up with. If I can pull one full strenght batch from four spend herb balls, I will be satisfied. I'll report back when I try it.

I used a clean white t shirt once and it worked fine. So if it aint full of sweat you are okay.
also coffee filters will work or a strainer Fine Mesh.

I wondered if a coffee filter would work, so I poored melted butter into one and it would NOT go through. I need something to strain it. I am thinking a T-shirt is gonna have to do..

Add 1 part water to the butter & weed, after sufficiently cooking it LET IT COOL ON ITS OWN, the butter will solidify on top, and all the used ganj & water will be at the bottom.

Scoop off the top, disgard the bottom

Being that water cannot bond with THC, the good stuff will remain in the butter

we do it this way as we believe lots of butter get left behind in the mash. one of da bro's has engineered a 2-ton button ram with 2-1" thk. plates of SST plate that sit in a u-shaped pressing fixture. the bottom plate is ever so slightly concave. we do 5 gallon pots/1#trim of mash @ a time with 1# butter. we then wear fresh cowhide gloves (tig welding gloves) and press out the mash whilst it be hot yet. we do get back close to a 1# of butter. 12 dozen cookies that are STRONG.

At first I thought you were joking, but that's quite a creative way to press the mash. I think the juicer might be easier, though.
