How big is your grow? An ionizer may work for a cab grow if it's not a smelly strain. Just don't put it in the cab, that will take the odor from the buds completely. Your best bet if you can make it happen is to use a carbon scrubber. Give us some more info. :joint:

with that much wattage, you would need more than one ionizer for sure. Your best bet in would be to make a huge carbon filter. What size is your fan?

what about an ozone generator... I was looking into getting one of these. Does anyone know if they're worth it?

Health Canada has warnings out about using ozone generators.

Why has Health Canada issued the warning on ozone generators?

A risk evaluation by Health Canada on ozone generators in January 1999, concluded that ozone generators pose a risk to the health and safety of the public. The direct and purposeful introduction of ozone into occupied indoor environments is unacceptable and therefore should be avoided. Health Canada is concerned with the adverse health effects that may result from the deliberate exposure of the public to ozone from air cleaners that intentionally generate ozone gas (ozone generators). Ozone is an irritant gas that can cause coughs, chest discomfort, and irritation of the nose, throat, and trachea. Health Canada has received complaints from consumers of respiratory problems when using an ozone generator.

Following a review of current information and in consultation with Health Canada and others, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) recently made the decision not to certify these products for household use and have issued new interim requirements for commercial units. This warning is aimed at addressing the devices previously certified and sold.

You can't beat a carbon filter.

Go to ebay or some hydro store and get a big carbon scrubber and fan will set you back about $300, but if you seriously have 4 x 1000watt lights than the money can,t be an issue. :chin: How big is your room? All the scrubbers will list the area that they will deordorize. You will need a few fans in there too. :joint:

Sparky.........Dewd on ebay has carbon filters w/ built on fan units for like $118 that are totally re-fillable(might take 2 for 24 plants)......You hang em in the room from bungee cords so no noise or vibration from the fan can be heard, and they eat the smell and re-circulate cleaned air back into the room with no need for exhaust to outdoors and no chance of smell bein detected..............Says refill cartridge every year,Hell if its every crop its worth its weight in gold to keep LEO off our ass..............Anyways ...........PEACE.........DHF...............

Either make your own scrubber(s) or buy some. Ionizers won't do shit for maryjane smell. Ozone generater will work, but read the precautions and get a good timer that allows it to be on only one min. at a time, or put it in a exhaust vent. Unless no-one spends anytime around the grow, you can just set it up so it shuts off about a 1/2 hour before anyone goes in, and comes back on when you leave.

Scrubbers would be the safest though.

Cheers,

well i have been slowly piecing this together. it started six months ago with one four hundred watt hps. and all of a sudden i am using 4 1000 hps. the first crop with one 400 didnt smell too bad but the second crop was heellla stinky. so now i am on my third and i think i should probably get one soon. i am on day 21 of flower so it aint too bad but soon it will be. thanks for all the help everyone i think i will be purchasing a carbon scrubber.
does anyone know if it is better to run them in the room or should i just put one on my exhaust. im not sure because my exhaust cycles on and off and i am not sure if the smell will leak out and stink up the neighborhood when the fan is not on.

get a carbon filter and run your inline exhaust fan to it...I have 60 gurls flowering right now...my filter is outside of my house in my backyard..and there is 10" ducting running out a hole i cut in the door for it(no one can see my backyard!lol) and you cants smell anything in the air that come out of the filter in my backyard...but as soon as you step in my house..smells like the cannabis club lol

Yeah Carbon scrubbers work great with a fan, I have a DIY Carbon Scrubber and it works very well. Use this to exhaust your grow room air as everyone has said.

I also use a uvonair ozone generator which is for 5000 sq ft. and this works very well also, I use this on a timer because it will eliminate smells very quickly. If this is on a timer for a short amount of time you won't have any problems with health hazards.

Another option is the Vaportek, which everyone has been raving about and won't put anything in the air that is harmful.
