i got a wall mounted ac unit, yesterda the remote started messing up i couldnt change the temp so its stuck a 25c im gonna try and fix it,this got me thinking what if it brakes i can get the man to fix it can i instal another one on my own

if it brakes your ac will come to an abrupt stop.

lol

im not sure what your really asking, how about put new batteries in the remote?
if it breaks you should get it fixed or replaced. level of skill to replace it isnt very high, not sure if you can handle it though.

i did replace the batteries, what im asking is options if the ac brakes down couse usualy if i didnt have a room full of plants i could call the handy man and have him deal with it,today i asked the guy at the store where they sell ac units is it possible for me to buy a new one and replace the old one by miself without professional help and he told me that i needed instrument to fill it with freon and that it was impossible for me to do it,so thats why im asking for some advice so i can prepare for the worse

One important question : Does it blow cool air out when it runs?

If the AC motor and chiller still run, it sounds like you have a bad thermostat. These are easy to get a spare and replace if you are good at following directions. You need to carefully look at the one you have, count the wires, figure out where they go, and then get a similar unit. Document everything on paper and with lots of pictures before you remove any wires. Be sure of what you are doing and have a plan before you start.

If the compressor or blower won't start, that's a different matter. Is it a single unit, like what you put into a window? If so, just replace the entire box with a similar one.

Bro if it Fs up on ya just toss it and get a new one they are cheap ($100). You can put a new one in easy... just measure it before you buy it... No Problem.. They are pretty much all the same and go in the same way they come out. My Mom can do it..

Yeah window units are pretty much disposable unless it's a 240V unit, if that's the case pull it and take it to an AC repair shop to fix it.

For emergencies like this, I strongly recommend a large exhaust fan on a thermostat. If it goes 5 degrees above your AC's set temp, kick that big fan on so your girls don't cook. If that's not an option, get a high temp shutdown relay for your lights so they will turn off.

OMG cant stress how important a 90$ High temp shutoff controller is....

If the power goes out and you dont have an auto restart on your A/c your lights are going to come back on and FRY your ladys...
The best way to do it is get a light controller with a trigger cable for the timer and connect the Heat shut off switch to the wall and plug the timer from your light controller into that... BAM.. youll never get hot again....
