What happened to this clone?

Can anybody tell me what causes this?
These clones were cut 5 days ago and put into a cup of tap water.
I've rooted clones this way before. In fact, these clones came off the plant that was rooted the same way.
Also, i've had the very same thing happen with clones in a power cloner and when i try cloning in coco.
I've placed clones in diferent rooms so its not the environment.
And its happening to more than one strain. Anybody ever go thru this? Did you figure out what caused it?

whats the ph of your tap water?
are you letting it sit overnight so the chlorine can dissipate?

it could also be an embolism...i always recut my clones underwater to prevent this.

I dont ph the water, never had. The last go at cloning this strain i did it the EXACT same way and got 100% success. I had to throw some out i had so many.
I cut and right into water it goes.
This problem happened to me in a (Botanicare)power cloner, and when i tried cloning in coco.

the ph and chlorine levels in tap can vary from one day to another. While it may have been fine last time this time it could be off.
i am leaning towards an embolism...
it happens rarely however it does happen and looks alot like what you have pictured there.
when a clone is cut sometimes a microscopic air bubble can form the instant the cut is made.
before i started always cutting a second time underwater it would happen one time out of every one to two hundred clones....
