what fuse for 250w envirolite?

hi all,my fuse has just blown in my plug of my 250w envirolite so i took it out to replace it and its a 13amp fuse. is this correct fuse? seems very high to me.would have thought it would take a 3 or 5 at most??
quick responses would be great as my back up light aint gonna cut it! thanx alot
maybe should say this is uk so 240v thanx

ok guys,i just tries the fuse in my hoover/vaccuum and it works so cant be the fuse,any ideas what will have gone?

check the bulbs inserted properly and no loose wires are causing a short and that its wired correctly ,,you never know,,,could also be a dodgy bulb

yeh,i first wired my own e40 socket but it blew straight away so i bought this one from greens hort. and worked fine.i just unplugged it to install a fan and when i plugged it back in it blew.im trying to take apart the fixture right now which it turning out to be next to impossible.im thinking the bulb is dodgy as this is the 2nd time its happened.i can hear something rattling inside the fixture so maybe something has shorted the wires inside the fixture.this is the fixture i have - http://www.greenshorticulture.co.uk/details.asp?productid=778&subcat=290&cat=95
any ideas how the hell it comes apart?

ok,so i got it apart and one of the nuts that holds the connecting screw inplace had come off and was loose inside the casing,the screw that goes in it is barely long enough to hold the nut,seems a stupid question maybe but could this be the cause? im trying to wire it up again and hopefully its just the lead not the bulb thats blown. what u all think?

ok,problem solved,it was the crappy nut so i used my old fitting with the new cable and everything is fine.thanx for the help hazy and to anyone else who looked in.
