MH in Cool are the best. Just make sure you get a Cool bulb, not a Warm bulb.
The Cool bulbs have a blueish light; blue spectrum is best for veg. growth.
The Warm bulbs are for flowering, they have more light in the red spectrum.
Glazed,
I went from t-5 to MH (400-600 watt). It really depends on your style. I like the stretch I get from MH for later training, and it takes less fixtures to get the same result. I found T-5's a bit cumbersome due to the spacing issues. They have to be one next to the other above the plants to get even growth and it can make working more difficult. Plant count or space and flower style should be factors to consider. Some buzz around the CMH but I have not tried one yet.
Out of the four brands of LED, I would have to go with the Advanced Diamond XTE series. It has the spectrum that balances root growth with leaf and stem.
The Platinum LEDs do not develop good roots.
The intelligent Light System stretches the plants.
The Hydrogrow is about as good as the XTE but has a highest failure rate in the industry.
Otherwise it is Ceramic Metal Halide as the best all around compromise that is not LED.
T5's are used as sidelights in the veg stage as well as the bud room for both CMH and LED as it is the direction more than the type of light that bushes out the branches.
