What do you do?

If you had a pack of seeds and needed a keeper mom, what would you do?

Clone them then put the seedlings into flowering once they sprout and veg (1 month?)

or

Flower them all from seed without cloning them then reveg the one you want to keep as mom after tasting the product (longer?)?


Just curious. My main worry is that revegging will take forever until the next batch of clones is ready.

My concern about cloning first is that it will top the plants, yet I will have moms ready faster.

What do you do?

i would personally veg and clone them all...flower then decide who stays at the end of the grow...peace

Thanks, I tend to dislike waiting for re-veg, right on, silly question, but one I was curious about. It seems some people don't mind revegging, but Inever understood why not just clone, then you wouldn't have to wait until a full reveg.

i take a second batch of clones in flowering...they take time to reveg and grow enough to go in after the previous batch

What i plan on doing is take 2 clones of each plant i am veging now (5 plants) once i start flowering and determine the sex i will keep or discard the clones coming from males. The clones will be in another room under another light.

yeah i take a first batch of cuts before flower root them then throw the seed plant into flower once i know male females the male get culled unless i want them for breeding. but then after a week in flower i will grab another set of cuts of the ladies and go from their.

I would grow all the seedplants out,taking two cuts from each seedplant the day I go 12/12 with them.I'd flower out the seedplants,this will give me an IDEA which phenos I want to keep on,and which are not good for perpetual cloning.Then I'd flower out the first set of female clones keeping a copy of each in veg,its from this final product that I'll make my decision of which pheno to keep.Normally I'll just grow 2 or 3 "generations" of the female cuttings dropping undesirable pheno's each grow.After a few grows I'm left with the most desirable pheno.Get an idea from the flowered seedplant,but make your final decision from the flowered clone,after all this is the final; p[roduct,not the flowered seedplant

Thanks everyone for chiming in. There are definitely different ways to skin this cat. I've tried several methods, and seem to prefer letting a mom get bigger to take more mature thicker clones. For some reason I've had bad experiences with revegging, it just took forever, but the idea of cutting some in the beginning of veg is a great idea for the subsequent batch. Great info, thanks everyone.
Skeletor - That sounds like the plan, I'll take clones in veg and leave them in veg until I flower the seedlings to see the phenos and sexes. Hopefully there won't be too many males LOL. I just dropped 10 Sensi's Hashplant in water and 10 MOD GodbudXdreamweaver. I'm hoping to find a good mom of each or whichever I like best. In 24 hrs, almost all the Sensi HP popped, and little white tails are crawling out.

Thats good bro,this has worked for me for years.I'm currently growing 5 different strains from seed to get me some new pheno's,I've never tried quite that many at once before lol!The very best advice I can give you is never to reveg or take cuttings after 12/12,starting with the original seedplant.You never want your cuts to see a 12/12 photoperiod believe me its best this way.

I take cuttings the day I know sex. I do not waste time cloning males.
Never fails!
Reveging is a waste unless it is the best weed you ever smoked... and you have no choice! In that case... it is all about keeping you high!
