infrared shows the heat signature. use LED lights in a grow closet in an interior room that is air-conditioned & you should be okay. or, just don't grow as suggested above...i know, that sucks.:comfort:

...go to YouTube and do a search for 'FLIR' and 'forward looking infra red', ...you'll find more than a few videos so watch more than one.

peace, bozo

Also digital ballests give off a certain megahertz or electronic signature that can be gathered from outside the grow area. So shielding or magnetic ballests are used to cover that.

There is not much you can do to protect against it. FLIR detects gradient temperature differecession on a surface so if one section of a wall reads like 65 degrees and a few feet away the way reads 75 degrees it will stick out. Unless you can keep the interior room cool as every where else in the house you will be able to see it.

The types of things they look for is hot air exhausting from weird spots, for example a ridge vent or sofit vent spewing hot hair would be a dead give away. I'd say basements are easier to hide, line the wall with reflectix that would be a good start. Also cover basement widows with insulated material so they don't appear greatly hotter than the wall.

By understanding how it works and what they are looking for you can devise ways to avoid detection.
