What did I do to this seedling?

Looks like nute burn. Regular potting soil or you can see if they'll adapt to the feed. They do look perky. How many days since they were last watered? Did this show right away or has it been a day or 2?

I wasn't leaning to over watering as they look perky just wanted to figure out how long they've been burning. I think they may pull through. I would keep a close eye on them if you don't switch the soil. If you have some perlite you could cut your soil with some of that until they get older. If they get worse than this I would move them.

You want to keep seedlings at a high humidity, and even mist them as often as possible. That looks better than some that I've raised into voluptuous trees!

I second nuteburn. I had problems growing in FFOF both times I've used it, and not right away either. I had slow growing plants that eventually locked out when they had 5-6 sets of leaves after the slower releasing organic stuff in there started to build up.
They don't really look like pH issues the leaves will twist and discoloration, it won't make burns like you show in your picture if i can see that correctly.
The problem with organic stuff, too, is that you cannot flush it out if you have too much organics. I wouldnt recommend anything but a transplant :/
But, since it is so small you can probably wash off most of the soil and transplant it in that same size cup :)
Peace

If you put it in seed starter mix and you did not damage your seedlings tap root your plant will live. The damaged leaves won't recover, but you won't have to worry, because the plant will grow up naturally dropping those first leaves :)
but right now you want all the leaves to be kept on the plant.
WHat size pot do you have that seedling in?

the mixture is very fluffy so you should not have to add perlite unless you are bad at overwatering your plants.

When you water do you let run off come out? If they are in big pots, do NOT do that......only water where the seedling is and do not worry about the soil around the areas where no roots are at.

Plastic beer cup? can you take a pic of it?
Ya, they need only wait around how deep the tap root is and in the area 1/2 around where the stem would be and some hair roots. Doing this helps it , will help prevent overwatering, you may need to water a little more often but it keeps it at a contrable moist level.

Was the cup white on the inside? if so, that is because light bounces off the cup and keeps the plant happy. You always want to use something reflective when growing, it maximizes your light and ensure your getting proper light and not wasting it.

As long as those 2 sets of leaves that are new does not get affected your plants should recover, the newer growth is coming out normal which is a good sign it was not affected by the burn.

In the other grows you were talking about, the ones with:
For some reason when I put cannabis in tall and skinny containers they thrive. Much more so that squat containers.

Were the inside of the containers white?

Ok, the reason for that is, white is a good color to use for reflective, That is why panda film is white and such.

Did your garbage cans have drainage holes in them?
You always should have drainage holes if it did not.....

But ya, thats why it grew better, the light was being bounced off maximizing your lighting a little better.
When I grow, I use all white, I built a grow box out of white board, forget what it was, my boyfriend was the one who picked it up. I am female, not a guy btw!

So we still have it, we put a big door on it and the negative air pressure keeps it shut all out grows were negative air pressure.

Pinch them off at the stem or use scissors. What's wrong with your tap water? I'd only use tap water unless there's some problems with it.

everything is wrong with tap...
atleast in cities.
ph, calium, chlorine, heavy metals, iron, chromium...

distilled is good...
im big on FFOF...ive herd it burns some seeds but i havent figured out why... seams genetic to low-feeding strains...

the distilled will dilute the soil, allowing for less burn, but it might cause N def or ca/mag def like were starting to see with these light top leafs. a bad 'catch 22' because the plant is so small, id tell u to give it microrizza fungi/seaweed or tea but i think its too late. maybe next time, flush a few cups of the ffof and wait for it to dry, then use the soil, i do this for my recycled soil when cloning in ffof.
if you had some more seeds id say start them now.

Start using tap water if you'd like to see them green up. Sorry about your tap water Digital, mine is a 7 even, tastes delicious & the plants love it. I don't even let it sit though an hour or two would be OK. I sometimes don't always agree with some of the posters here but I agree with this.

You never water seedlings with distilled nor RO water, you want to water them with tap as the micros help with the growing of the plant, the reason why those cotyldons are yellowing more now is because they have used up most of the stored food and they have barely yet to grow, this is because no micros have been given to them in the water.
What soil mixture are you using?
