What causes red-eye, red face, drooping eyelashes etc. when high?

All these little things I've always wondered, I now get to ask some professionals

What is it that causes the 'stoned face'? And the stoned face definitely differs from individual to individual and from strain to strain. I've been completely devastated and upon looking in the mirror i look normal, whereas I can smoke some other stuff (potency depends), even a small amount, and be modestly medicated but look like I'm seriously sick, LOL. I almost scared myself with some stuff that I smoked last night. There was nothing wrong with the bud at all (not laced), it was pure herb and GOOD herb. I felt the high throughout my face and went to look at myself in the mirror and scared myself to death. I looked like I was on some HARDCORE drugs. My face was very red, my eyes were WIDE open and scarily bloodshot and my pupils were huge. Tried some Visine twice, it did NOTHING for my eyes, whereas 99% of the time that Advanced Relief stuff cures any high-eyes. Anyone know what causes this to happen? What do you do for the stoner face? That is, if you ever care to do anything about it at all in the first place

I understand that the bloodshot eyes is from increased blood flow to the eyes. Same reason it is good for glaucoma.

Ahhhh, I get it. The increased blood flow from being high = red eyes. I didn't even think about that. I've heard that red eyes are due to moisture being drawn from the eyes due to smoking, etc. All kinda explanations. I've noticed that more indica strains tend to get my eyes redder than sativas, as well.

Cannabis lowers ocular pressure allowing blood to flow in. That's why Galucoma patients use it because they're eyes are under tremdous pressure.

Yea, usually that is what happens with me. My eyes will just look like my allergies are bothering me or something. I dunno, last night it scared me though and it just got me to wondering what causes this and why does it vary between people and different kinds fo weed. I've neevr had my eyes THAT red and THAT wide open before. Looked like I was on some serious shit other than weed

You've obviously never inhaled right. I know tons of people that smoke incorrectly through a pipe, they drag too slow especially from a one hitter, Ya gotta draw hard and hold that shit in! Then you get some warm feeling in the face and ears, you feel tense maybe unsure waiting for whats to come.

Your face should be properly red and ur eyelids drooping, sometimes vessels on my eyes almost seem popping. I've actually gotten so high that I felt violently sick, when I looked in the mirror my lips were flush and my face was pale. It's not as bad as it sounds. But yeah my eye's had dark circles around them and i looked like a fiend.

I more often then not when stoned in public probably look like this. But I'm fine with it cause I'm in satori. Keep smoking forget about what you look like, that's not making you feel better, don't dwell on it.

LOL, an amateur smoker. I'm only 21 but have grown for 4 years and have smoked for 5 or 6. You think I didn't KNOW that you get red eyes from smoking? LOL. Never inhaled, huh? Riiiight, you know so much about me from one post!

I KNOW that these things happen, just like I said, I've been smoking for a while and have studied marijuana for a couple years now. I was extremely medicated and started wondering why little things like the red eyes, the droopy face, etc. happen. I KNOW that they happen, but it wasn't until I was severely stoned that I started to think about it.

That was a real douche bag thing to say, and don't try opening with that 'i'm sorry' crap because it's just as rude. I may not have many posts, but look around at my others and even though I'm not a pro or veteran, I still know what I'm talking about. I'm no 'nub', whatever the hell that is.

It is the cannabinoids that are impacting the various facets of the THC fueled high. If you harvest late, you will more readily get the red and tired eyes alot easier. That typical lost in time look and sometimes feeling is due to the THC's breaking down into more tiring cannabinoids, not that THC alone cannot or will not. It's the cannabinoids that impact the various facets of the high produced by THC.

THC is a vasodilator, it dilates blood vessels, which is what makes you get reddened eyes

yeah man, since im allergic to about everything, my eyes get itchy, red and irritated if i walk outside my house. but when i smoke, my eyes get BLOODSHOT, no hiding it, only thing that works is CLEAR EYES, visine does not get the red out. also, ive noticed when i smoke too much, my nose runs pretty crazy.... hmm, might jus need better allergy medication, lol

Wow, I think sogman wins the award for most stuck up post I've seen.

My eyes just don't get bloodshot, they definitely get droopy but never red. My best friend's younger brother though, his eyes would get scary. We wouldn't let him go into stores with us when we got snacks and stuff, because there was literally no white left in his eyes, pure red. Different people react differently, just like with everything else.

lol, main reason I don't like being high in public like at school and at work because I can tell that my face looks stoned, eyes look tired and my eyes shrink and are almost closed lol, sometimes I'll have a goofy / weird smile for no reason.

definately know what you mean about the stoned face, I've seen myself in the mirror wen high and I've freaked myself out too lol.

I have a picture of myself, actually my old passport photo which needs to be updated and I was high as hell when they took the picture and my hair is all messed up and long and I look like a hobo/ drunk in my passport photo which I'm really embarrased about, good thing I have to get it updated soon. My eyes are also all messed up in the photo not just red but it looks like I'm on hardcore drugs as well.
