what can be used in a clonebucket to stop the slime while clones are starting?

have a clone bucket that makes the clones and then they go into soil. The problem here is the dreaded slime that happens about a week into cloning. i ve read about the treatments to clean everything after the clones are done.....but what can be used in the water to prevent the slime from starting on the new clones in the first place? what, (that can be used) wont harm or slow down the clones from getting roots? i use RO water...ive even boiled the RO water just in case. Ive bleachwatered evrything, and have been insanely clean about everything yet it still comes back. So im looking for something i can put in the water to get rid of this shit and grow clones.....so PLAES HELP!!

Are you using any kind of nutrients in the clone bucket? Even something like a rooting gel? You could have some kind of algae growing in the container if it's not completely opaque, and it's not good for the roots to receive any light either.

I presume by clone bucket you mean something like a bubbleponics/aeroponics cloner?

You could also try adding a little H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) in a very low concentration which should help with any algae or root rot issues. I am not sure of the exact amount to use, but it's certainly going to be on the ICmag forums search.

Hope it helps you. :)

About a capfull per gallon of water is enough to kill off any molds or slime .

h2o2 about a tablespoon 3% per gal.
change the water as soon as you suspect slime, don't wait till it's formed.
reduce the intensity of the lighting over the cuts.
you are using rooting hormones, yes?

clean and bleach bucket inside and out, run pump in bleach water also.... use plenty of bleach...rinse thoroughly .....then just refill w/ TAP water.....most city tap water systems have chlorine in them and is usually enuff to keep away the slimeyz.....

ps.... replace water @ least once a week.... if not every other day...... just tap water

If it is a slime that covers the otherwise healthy stems, then it may be a cyanobacteria problem that could be solved with erythromycin from the tropical fish store. It may be in your tap water.

you are supposed to be using the dirty tap water, not the RO water

good luck

have you looked into richyrich;s thread about the slime and the ewc tea?
check it out....

oh and can that eartho stuff be used with live clones in the machine? from that read on the link above it doesnt seem like it. it seems more like an after treatment. IS there any treatment that can be used during the clone process?

Distilled Water? Also going into dirt Ive never had a problem. I root in cubes then to promix to veg a bit. Clean off the root ball then back to a 5 gallon bucket. PS-I go to dirt very quickly after roots show. I have heat issues in the clone room which I think contribute to the green slime I get.
