What brand and size of fan? FUCK.

Alright so I am getting frustrated, I have been researching fans for a long time now, and I still havent made up my mind, I have read numerous reviews and articles and can still not make up my damn mind! The grow space will be approx. 93 cubic feet, and a 600w hps. This one fan will cool the hood, as well as pull from the filter. Blah. Help me. Please.

Can Fan 6" HO(440CFM) w/ Can Filter 50 - $400

VS.

Vortex 6" (449CFM) w/ Can Filter 50 - $380

VS.

FanTech 6" (483CFM) w/ Can Filter 50 - $400

I want the quietest and most reliable fan possible.

Any thoughts?

edit - my 750 is a shop blower. $100, four years no problems, but it is loud.

I have both the canfan, and the Vortex. The vortex is quieter. As for reliability, unknown by me, as they are both working fine (I've had both for about 8 months now). I've wrapped my fans in Dynamat, use insulated ducting, and still have some noise. The only way I've ever silenced a fan was to build a soundproof box for them. Even then, there is still minimal noise from the rushing air.

I would go with the 6" vortex... I have two running 24/7, I've had them for a year now. Before that my buddy had them for 5 years in his rooms. It still runs just as quiet as when they were new.

Don't skimp on a fan!!!

In theory, couldn't you buy a cheaper fan that still has enough muscle to circulate the room and get either a DIY carbon filter or some other odor control? Local grow shop around here has some stuff for $8 bucks a can, lasts 3 months in 400 sq ft room called BeGone Odor Absorber.

Thx dudes.

I understand I could get a cheaper fan, just kinda like the warranties on these. Vortex I think is a 10 year warranty.

Thanks!

Pretty sad video. Note they compare dissimilar models: a standard Vortex vs a non standard Can. Note how little movement the bill shows. Hold a bill in your hand and blow at it. Did that take 800 CFM? Are you going to use the Vortex with it's intake blocked? The can may have a momentary, near imperceptible advantage but, what happens down the line? Vortex gives you 5-8 years more warranty for the same price.

go to harbor freight .com you will see there is a exhaust fan in two sizes ,i have the small one on a large can scrubber and works great it was 79 dollars with an extended covage insurance, the larger one is even better they are both two speed fans

The Vortex, Fantech, Can, Elicent, and many others are good choices. Don't skimp on the fan/filter combo--get a good one, and shop around for a good price, delivered.
One tip--tape over the seam where the two halves of the fan body are screwed together. It is not uncommon for a little air to leak out from this seam, causing a lot of hiss.

I would say go witht eh ELicent fan and a Mountain AIr Carbon Filter. I am running that combo and it worke great. going on 4 years on my filter with the original carbon.
