I thought it was supposed to be flying saucers come from Mars? I never suspected they went to Mars as well.

not fer nuthin' but that thing looks like it's as aerodynamic as a cinder block.......
The most cost-effective way to slow down larger loads as they approach Mars is to take advantage of the natural drag, or friction, in the atmosphere. The LDSD's large, flat, saucer-like surface will maximize this potential, generating a lot of drag to help slow it down as it falls to Mars.
I wish i could hitch a ride #weed4mars
aerodynamics don't matter as much when you can bend space-time and the rocket thruster could be something to placate suspicious civilians and/or just something to slow down descent.
A balloon carries it to 120kfeet.
Large disc surface is designed to increase drag on descent in mars atmosphere.
It will feature an extra inflatable toroidial (not sure how to spell that) balloon to increase surface area on descent.

Lol i hear ya.i was talking about growing weed on mars.hell i dont think i could handle a j or medibals. In zero gravity.lol talk about vertigo.better take a BIG sack, that's gonna be a loooong ride...unless they have a propulsion system I aint heard of.

Seemed like the point is to create as much drag as possible while descending to Mars. That's why the extra inflatable donut. It's being launched fromthe upper atmosphere after a balloon floats it up..
Maybe we're trying to make sure that if anyone sees this, our technology looks sufficiently primitive to not be a threat.
Actually the balloon was just for testing purposes. When/if it is ever used to go to Mars it will be launched on top of a more conventional rocket.
there not going to mars or the moon or anywhere else its all a hoax.i cant even get a phone signal in the lower 48 states yet most americans believe that nasa can control a spacecraft millions of miles away using the same technology.i very seriously doubt we can make it out side of earths orbit.picture chopping on a computer is easier than flying a machine to outer space and snapping a pic of the earth.
