What are these??... Eggs?

Found a few of these sitting on top of the soil. They are "crunchy", I squeezed one and it cracked and squirted a nasty liquid, some kind of clear some a little milky/yellow. I didn't see any signs of pests under 30x magnification, and the only damage spots on my plants is from some deficiencies from a few weeks back (caused by low PH and has since been corrected, new growth is nice and healthy) They are about the size of average perlite. At first I thought spider eggs, but those aren't normally crunchy are they? Just curious if anyone knows exactly what they are and if it something I should be concerned about. I'm going to treat with a dose of FF Don't Bug Me before lights out to be on the safe side.

Ah, that's good news... thanks for the reply. I'm using a mix of Jungle Grow, plain topsoil, blood and bone meal, dolomite lime, perlite and vermiculite. I guess they had to come from the Jungle Grow. I wasn't to fired up about using the jungle grow, but couldn't find any decent dirt around here and having a couple of bags of soil shipped would have been pricey, not to mention it would have given me two scoops of paranoia.

Core, I read through your thread and had another newb question answered for me... somebody mentioned seeing what looked like gold flakes in their soil. I saw those awhile back in mine and didn't know what to think... thought my alcoholic buddy that looked after them while I was out of town maybe went nuts and watered with goldschlager. The upside to being a newb... you wake up to a whole new world every day.

I found those in Miracle grow soil. I tried to pick them out but there were just too many lol. They are ferts for sure, like little individual feeding balls.. when water finally deteriorates the outer shell they release their liquid fert inside... causing a sudden drop in PH and usually a lot of nute burn in the process if lots of them release at once, usually thanks to over watering and perpetually wet soil. At least the Miracle grow does that, I seem to have witnessed.

If you got critters with 'eggs' that size you better run for the hills. Also by squishing them you've imprinted their dna on you so when the momma comes flying in she'll home right in on you.

Fry a couple of them up and if they go well with bacon & toast their most likely eggs.........
