Ralph Mothes and Paloma Werner of Cape Town Sailing Academy in South Africa are old hats when it comes to expeditions on the open seas. But there's no way they could have anticipated Sunday's wildlife encounter when they set out for a routine sail near Robben Island: A 40-ton whale leaped out of the sea and landed on the deck of their boat, the London Daily Telegraph reports. Luckily, Mothes and Werner both came away alive, as did the whale.

now that's some crazy shit.......

It would not have, happen ...if he had weed on board...:dance013:

At first I laughed thinking that the whale was having some mischievous fun. He signalled the other whales as if to say "Hey, WATCH THIS!!!" Then I thought about the oil disaster and considered that maybe it is a desperate plea for attention, like "How can I tell you humans that we are fully intelligent and we need your help now?"

That photo is insane!! What are the odds that someone would have a camera, be in the right place, and snap a shot at the right moment?

They said the whale probably didn't hear the sailboat (no motor noise). These peeps were lucky it only resulted in a broken mast!
