Ideal time?

During vege.

2 weeks into flower is for those growers who vege under 24/0 from seed, and aren't certain that they've got a girl.... Thusly they have to flip them and let them define before cloning.

If your growing from clone and know you've got a girl, take em during vege. If it's a seed, let it define under 18/6 lighting before flipping and take cuttings from the girls.

well that's my :2cents: anyway.

Man, I was certain somebody would call BS on that by now.

Cuttings can in all honesty be taken at any time, Nother grower here actually just saved a strain by cloning it at harvest!

It took almost a month in an areo cloner to even root, then another month to revege and start growing again. I can't recall how many cuts he took, but by the sounds of the thread, only one survived. Moral of the story, the later into flower you cut, the lower your chance of success.

Cloning during vege is by far the easiest and most successful method tho.

The real problem with cloning flowering branches is that the stigmas of the pistils (the 'hairs') of the flowers rot when the humidity is high, over periods of time like during cloning, which inevitably rots the meristems.

If you can root the cuttings without a dome to increase the humidity (like with an aero-cloner), then you can just wait for the reveg. If you are rooting in medium under a dome however, it's better to use vegetative shoots and the clones won;t have to go through the reveg process as well as trying to root... it's tough on a small plant with all the different hormone signals.

I'm not calling bullshit but two weeks into flower is as late as you want to go if you want an easy transition. Like Canni said you really want to take them during veg.

I'm with you socialist but clones from week 3-> week X, "if necessary" will take longer like what canniwhatsis said. I usually take them day 14 of 12/12 whith very high success rate (90%+), and I read in a thread here (wish I bookmarked it) where some one is finding that clones taken from bloomers are producing more than clones taken in veg.. but they do root sucessfully, sooner, if taken earlier..
