Watering with molasses?

if im currently following icc's tea method, should i ONLY apply molasses while feeding with teas or can i add it during normal waterings as well? at what dosage?

just wondering since a few of my girls are looking like they might need a bit of extra cal/mag and i know the molasses can help.

Yesterday I went to a trusted hydro supply store and he said straight molasses and water isn't effective because you must first firment the molasses and then after that the fermented molasses mixture only is good for 4 to 5 days..I have never heard that before but thought I would share the info. He seemed to have a plethora of knowlege but it doesn't mean he is right.

I have been thinking about this myself. I have been doing it since I could clearly see bud sets starting to form.

just incase anybody finds this thread after about 40 mins of reading i gathered some info just going through that thread fatblunt posted, great stuff. i used the search function for like 20 minutes and never came across that =/ i guess i fail at searching

if youre using grandmas molasses its much less potent than your run of the mill (brer rabbit) blackstrap molasses. up to 1tbsp per gallon of grandmas has effectively been applied with waterings in soil. whether or not these waterings were between tea based feedings i have no clue. about to water the plants now and am adding 2 tsp per gallon since this is my first application and dont want to freak the girls out with some new stuff in their roots

for blackstrap molasses dont add much more than 1tsp per gallon of water otherwise possible over-nuting can occur from the abundance of awesome nutrients found in molasses.

I wouldnt worry too much about molases causing mites...if you have mites, they will get worse the more nutrient rich your vegetation. Richer veg = healthier mites = greater reproduction. Not a bad idea to have an effective miticide within reach tho...never know when they might show up...specially if you have houseplants.

I use molases every third watering too...after sexing.

I've never heard of molasses being the cause of mites?..I use UNSULPHURED black strap molasses 1 TBLS per gallon every second or third watering a couple of weeks after flowering begins..never had a problem with over ferting.
UNSULPHURED molasses is very important...my buddy found this out the hardway.
The girls seem to love the carbs...goodluck.

Sulphured or unsulphured is all a myth.

the fact is that the carbs from molasses never get into the plants as poured. the carbs from molasses feed the germs and micro-stuff that grows in your soil. They eat the molasses, grow, and die, and release their own changed nutrients readily to the plants.

Autoflowering plants grow much too fast to get any real benefit from molasses. You have to be growing things that take a full 8 to 10 weeks to flower to get the benefit.

You'd be better off mixing some well used soil into your fresh transplants for microfauna.

I disagree slightly...the plant is indeed capable of utilizing some of the applied carbs. there is some research in golf course putting green turf which clearly demonstrates uptake and utilization of applied carbs. That said, the primary benefit is to the microbial fraction of your soil....and with the very poor biological component of most potting soils, the importance of this should not be underestimated. Additionally, there is a significant nutrient content in molasses as well, but most will be bound by the burgeoning microbes

I have used it in waterings without tea. I did see some canoed leaves when i was watering with blackstrap every wartering. So now i currently only add blackstrap to my teas.

Would like to hear from some one who has done a good few runs with "mo" all the way through.

molasses is overated nonsense, never flush with it, your buds will taste like shite. organics is game were soil gets better over time, if your running clean water and have a micro herd then maybe some mol will help a little , i mean a very little. if u want bigger budds, best money u can spend is on more light, the average grower with 100 dollars to spend in additives vrs a extra 150hps light will never yeild the increase the light would. something to remind ourselves about as its a sure thing.

I agree, but you also have to take into condideration the quality and "effectivness" of the growing medium (soil) and I think spending three dollars on something that might help is worth a shot. IMHO

Unsulfered/sulfured molasses is NOT a myth. Sulfured molasses is processed with sulfur (obviously) which is an excellent fungicide. It will inhibit fungal growth in your teas and soil if used.
