Water proof a growroom

J

jaw

i wanted to line the bottom of my room with polypropylene in case of a spill or other growroom disaster, is that the same stuff thats harmful in hydrohuts, or would be be alright for the plants

good idea

PVC is the harmfull stuff to avoid. Same with shower curtains :)

There are pond liners that are advertised as being safe for microbial life.

I have used these in a few rooms with excellent results.

Poly is also ok. (and cheaper)

I found the poly up to 6ml thick the pond liner was 20ml!

I think it was Pico who posted a DIY on using pondliner to line the floor. Pretty simple. At the door, he used a a 2x4 I think to keep the liner up. Not sure what he used to seal the seams.

The only issue with poly would be that its much easier to tear and it would lift off the floor easy. The pond liner being heavier will lay down. I think the poly lined floor would be harder to clean. I know I can use a shop vac to vacuum my tables that are lined with pond liner w/o issue. I sure couldnt use it on my panda lined walls

pond liner all the way...in the corners don't cut it just fold a crease in it so you are water tight up to the edge of the liner...get the thickest you can find...tough stuff you will not regret it as you would with poly or tarps...cut it about a foot or more larger than your room so it runs up the walls at least 6 inches...b/w poly hanging on teh walls and hanging inside the liner will give you good run off into the floor if you splash some water around...I ran a 6" tall board at the door on the inside and tacked the liner on that...a fan placed low aiming at the floor will help evaporate runoff at a quick pace...let the fan run 24/7 and not timed with the lights

I always use one of those blue or white tarps from Home Depot or Lowes. They come in all different sizes and are very strong. I have been using the same one for over two years in one of my rooms. They have never caused any problems before for me and are quite cheap. Just a thought.

pond liner is good...so is a shower-base membrane. the stuff is around 1/16" thick...very durable. you can get it at lowes or HD and you buy it by the foot. I think it is 6' wide. They make a seam tape/adhesive for it, too.

hmm, I think the pond liner is cheaper, easier, re-usable, and looks better than a floor full of epoxy.Plus the landlord will have his carpet back when you leave the place.

Yeah there are lots of different brands of basicly same stuff. Mine wasnt clear... gray and not much shining.

It gets you high and does cause a slight brain damage if you dont aerate the place when applying... hehehehe

Just a heads up for all of you, I have six of those new DR300 Secret garden Dark rooms, Two of them that had the GH Water Farm with 16 buckets ended up getting a really bad growth in the water, bucket, drip, and every other damb thing! Bottom line, the buckets clogged and overflowed and leaked around 15 -20 gallons each without a single drop leaving the Dark Room!
