Water meter help

I need some help for anyone with water meter knowledge

Got a letter last week and there is a company coming to our city to update water meters from old ones to new remote type that they can read from wherever they are

I have a meter outside on the side of the house that kinda resembles an odometer

But I also have a meter in the basement that's attached to where the water main comes into the basement, same deal that looks like an odometer just bigger than the one on the outside of the house

Does anyone know which one will be replaced? My 4x4 cab is right next to the meter in the basement.......of course

I can provide pictures of each meter if that helps

Call them up and ask. Just tell them that you have two meters, and if it's the one in the basement, you need to take off work that day and you need to plan accordingly.

Do they come into your basement to read the meter? Surely they'll repace the one they read.

Nope they don't come in to read the meter

The lady I talked to from the city dept. couldn't tell me if they needed to come in or not, go figure right?

You think they would have that shit in their database

Either way I'm stashing everything off site on the day of the day of service, I just figured a fellow magger might have some inside knowledge

It would be nice to not have to move all my shit if I don't have to

they changed the one inside when they did mine. ran some kind of wire outside so it can be read as the guy drives by.

Yup, same here. Installed new meter in basement and ran wire to outside remote device. Guy was cool though, the basement was a mess. He just shrugged and said I've seen it all when I apologized for mess.
If I were you I would plan on them wanting in. If they don't come in then all the better. Worst case you can always call and set up an appointment for the future if you need more time. Just tell 'em you'll be away on business until such and such a date.

Yup my appointment is set

Everything will be off site the morning of installation

Always safe than sorry it's just a pain in the ass to move everything

Thanks for your input guys
