water issue or temp??

just as the subject says.. I watered yesterday, and checked them earlier.. soil was still sort of moist about 1/2in in so I watered again tonight.. i guess if they look worse tomorrow then too much water maybe, temps could be getting down to the mid to low 60's at night while around 70-74 during the day. any help is great!

oh yea, I must say.. these pics are before watering tonight. and I did the weight test, watered to dripping out bottom, felt weight. before I watered again tonight, the cups were noticebly lite.

shit man im in the same boat as you.

mine got REALLY bad but they're looking better now.

I think mine may have been a watering issue.

I suggest this... The holes in the bottom of the cups for drainage. Get some tweezers and make sure u dont hit any roots. Take out some soil and put it in your fingers. Squeeze. If any water comes out of the wet soil wait on watering.

Thats what I did on my last watering and they're bouncing back, although it took tons of time.

Wait you said before watering? I would say its a watering issue. The top of the soil is still moist. Air Fluff the top of the soil and let it sit.

yea, those pictures were before I watered last night AGAIN. It's just mind boggleing how these plants can suck up all that water in ONE day. but I stuck my finger about an inch or so down into the soil and it was slightly moist. I'll check them again tonight when lights come back on and if they look the same or worse I'll aggitate the soil to get some air in there to dry it out.

another note; the bottoms of the cups were not wet either before I watered again. Is it possible for low temp's to cause this type of reaction on the plants part?

Hi dude,
Raise your day time temps up to 75-78 which should raise the metabolism of your plants. Low temps will slow or stop plant growth. How old are these younglings? and it seems to me you don't have very much soil in your cups IMHO. Do you have any roots coming out the bottom yet? You should....I like to double cup them so that the roots will show themselves and i can tell i have good root growth. The appearance tells me over watering. Have you noticed any growth at all within the last couple of days? You may have some sort of root problem caused by over watering and your temps are low for sure.Did you say you were watering everyday?

Good luck,
Jazz

they look even worse today, I fluffed the hell out of the soil to let o2 get to the roots and to dry it out. and the temps got down to 57*F in there, so I've added a digital timer set to turn the fan off every hour for 30mins to collect heat then turn back on for an hour. the 1000w heats it up pretty good in that 30minutes, but Im wondering if I'm destroying the bulb doing that? I can touch the hood and its warm to the touch. tonight will be the test if this plan is going to work. and of course the 6hr's the light is off for now I have a heater set to turn on and thermo set right around 69*(the heater keeps it about 73-74 at that setting). thanks for the help all, if anyone has some input on the fan & light situation that would be great!

***to answer some questions Jazz, they are about 2-3 weeks. 3 days under the 1000w. No roots showing out of the bottom of the cups, but they will be transplanted into 2gal grow bags in about a week. growth has been slim to none the past 2 days. I watered 2 days in a row because the "weight test" indicated they were dry. This is my first indoor grow and Im just going to have to get everything down.. I dont trust the weight of the cups anymore since it was clearly a bad sign. Im hoping for the best and doing everything I can to revive them!

I'll have another 5-7 in there next week, yea the veg time will be longer on the ones in there now, but Im mostly doin the first run for clones. just for an update, temps are staying between 71-80 now with the timer. hopefully they can bounce back from low temps and too much water. libby, thanks for the advice.. can never stop reading on here!

try giving them less water, since you dont have much soil they dont need much. Im not 100% sure but you have purple stems, they need a TINY bit of fertilizer. Dont over do it!! That way if its not a nute problem it wont hurt them any!

Good luck!

You're gonna burn up that 1000 watter turning it on and off every 30 minutes...

They are vegging! Leave lights on 24-7! They will get BIG on 24-7.

Next time put more dirt in your cup! Quit sticking your finger in there and messing with em! They hate that......

they will be just as happy under a shop light till they get bigger, don't need 1000 watts!

Are you checking pH? Runoff pH? Watering with what pH adjusted water? Day time temps 78-85 good.........

Nav; next watering they are getting some N, Liquid karma & black strap. thanks for the tip!

Lola; the light is staying on 18/6. I have the inline on for an hour, then off for 30minutes then back on for an hour. In the 30minutes that the inline is off, the hood of the light gets warm but not burning hot is this what you were talking about will burn up the lamp.. or actually turning the lamp on & off like u said?

plain water is ph'd right at 6. runoff is coming out between 6 and 7, Im stuck using ph strips until I can afford a ph pen.
