water cloning question

New member
decided to take a shot at water cloning about 4 weeks ago, and alot of the clones are yellowing. just wondering... is indirect light from a fluorescent grow room (placed above the reflector) too strong? also, can i clip off the yellow leaves and still have a chance of it rooting? there are still a good number of healthy leaves.

Thanks!

in a cup of water?

depens on the strain ...some will root quick, others will just kinda sit there and look sad

i have a ice princes/twilight x bubblegum plant and its cuts root in a cup of water
almost as fast as it will in my bubble cloner

if its been 4 weeks , my guess is that it aint working

once the 45*degree cut has been made, just stick them in distilled water. as far as lighting goes, in the summer i set them in a window that dosent get direct light.
also use clear glass containers or opac white plastic cups i have found these work best for me.
also i would use a flo light if not put in a window in winter time(to cold). i use tall shot glasses. and have roots in a week to ten days on avg. like the guy said above some take right off some will set there. also if take cuttings off a flower plant it will increase the time it takes to root.

what you want to see starting to happen is the stem in the the water will start to get white bumps on it, this is the starting of the roots.some times it will get a lot of them before one takes off.

The light should be fine, especially if it's a fluro. They only need a little bit of light during the cloning phase. Watering Cloning can take a long time, compared to superior methods. Give us some other details as far as temperature, humidity, etc. I'm assuming you have some type of humidity dome to keep them moist, the temp also needs to be above 70 for them to root quickly.

GB you soil or hydro grower ? Yellowing is normal if theyve been in the water for 4 weeks. I myself wouldnt cut off anything unless it looked moldy. Let them use the N up in them leaves. Little light is ok but not to let it get into the res with the water. GL

Drowning is normal if they've been in the water for 4 weeks lol, just kidding man.You might want to try another method though,if they root after 4 weeks I'll be surprised even for water cloning. Are you aerating the water at all?

the fastest i had clones take off in water is 5 days, but a lot depends on the strain and how often the water is changed. water needs to be changed at lest every otherday.

also unless your into production i wouldnt waste the money on a cloner and put the cash into equipment or beans. although i did see a cloner that was made out of a plastic foldgers can. the main thing to ask your self do i need it?
