You just plug it in, set the temperature you want and connect the water IN and water OUT hoses. Remember you have to bring your own pump, none of the chillers have their own pumps built in so get a water pump that matches the flow required by the chiller.
Some chillers have pumps but there are only a few of those. The best is if you can have a chiller in another cool room because it gives away more heat that it 'takes' it from the water.
Hey Ray....... ....Ray`s totally right about keeping your chiller outside of the grow areas cuz the flow thru models like eco-plus`s are basically heat-exchangers along with cooling units, but they put off waaaay more heat than they take out of nutrient solution......I`ve got a 1/2 hp aqua-logic drop-in right in my rez that does not restrict flow and needs no pump but they`re kinda pricey.....There`s no comparison between the cool down capacity of the big-dawg drop-ins and the flow-thru models that require their own pumps ....Like I said though, pricey.....I got mine on clearance for $780 and i`m not sure what reg. price is....Peace.....DHF.....
Very reliable and is actually overkill for my res. You do have to purchase a submersible pump (got an ecoplus pump from the same website) which arent expensive at all. Once you have everything set up and running (set up isnt hard at all) they require little to no maintenance. Good luck
Ram do you keep it off to the side and away from the res??? b/c I've seen some pictures of respectable growers with the chiller sitting directly next to the res itself.
I keep the chiller in the same room because I have no other place to put it. The chiller cools the water and the AC cools the chiller. Haha..Probably very inefficient, but it works. It's only money.
I keep my res, chiller, controller, and ballasts in a separate room outside my grow room. The chiller does create some heat but because it isnt in the grow room, it isnt a big deal.
