Was "cooking" soil, got fuzzy...still ok?

quick question, i had my soil in a rubbermaid tub "cooking" and this morning it had some fuzz on the top. i dont know if this is bad or not.
i opened the lid now so it can air out but will i have any problems with it?
thanks everyone. be cool

Why are you cooking your dirt like that?I've always found barbecue dirt to be more difficult to prepare but worth the effort!Seriously,if you must cook your media until it fuzzes over to rid yourself of pests(if thats the idea),I'd just get new media its a lot simpler

Why were you cooking it? It probably is mold if it grew overnight, unlike the beneficial fuzzy stuff that kinda grows inside the top layer of soil called mycorhizae etc...
I'm guessing you were cooking it for pests, maybe beneficial nematodes may be a better solution? If your grow area is arid, then it still shouldn't be a problem if you mixed it well in to the soil in my experience, but if you have a humid grow area or conditions, I'd be scared to loose buds to mold that spread up to the plant or powdery mildew flourishing.
I guess it's a combination of factors..preventative measures, environment, and cleanliness..

I read on this forum to mix all my dirt, bone meal, blood meal, ect. in a tub and let it sit for a few weeks and it "cooks" making it better to use.
like i said this morning it had fuzz on the top, made me wonder.
thanks SB.
any others? be cool

i never added heat in any way. kind of like composting i guess.

It wont hurt anything

It wont hurt anything

Jus let it dry out alil, and stir it up.The reason ya let soil "cook" is ta give the micro herd a chance ta start breakin down the amendments ya added and ta balance the ph.The more air you add by stirin it the quicker this will happen.I know from personal exp (many times) this won't hurt a thing. Take care...BC

Thanks BC, i stirred it up and left the lid off a bit. smells good, like compost.
i would have hated to lose this soil, thanks to everyone. be cool
