Hello,

I decided to post this in the security/legal section because I have a few questions involving security.

I've never been busted, had a speeding ticket, etc. I'm completely off the radar.

I'm getting ready to move. My last place was OWNED by myself, and of course when you own a house, no one checks up on you. My questions involve apartment growing.

I am a micro/cab grower, and have quite a compact setup. My equipment can fit into a small closet.

If I pay the bills on time, do you think I'm in much risk of a thorough inspection of the apartment? I've never really stayed in an apartment before. I'm going to downsize my 400w to a 150w (I believe), so there will be less of a spike in power. I also use scrubbers on both the veg and flower cab.

I know each situation is different, so I ask fellow apartment growers/people with the knowledge, what do you think the safety level is here? I'm not sure about the inspection situation as of now, but I'm curious as to what you all have experienced. What do you think the chances are of a random detailed inspection? I have locks on all my cab doors, they can fit in a closet, etc.

I have no problem paying the bills on time. I'm quiet, I keep to myself. I don't have drunk friends coming over and making a lot of noise or causing problems.

Suggestions/Opinions? :tiphat:

Personally there is NO WAY I would grow in anything I do not own.

Unless very specific individual circumstances give someone the security (and I am talking REAL security, not just the false sense of it) there is ALWAYS the risk of inspections of many kind, here just a few examples:

- change in the mortgage
- appraisal
- upgrades
- repairs
- etc.

Unless you can break down things @ a moments notice (and not just hide them) rental growing is a BIG NO.

But that's just me.

Those who have gotten away with it will tell you different.

I appreciate the feedback buddy. You've really given me something to mull over.

I do have no perfect security situation. I have no idea what the checkup situations are. From my understanding, they don't really bother you unless you need repairs, and I believe they are supposed to give you a 24 hours notice (who knows if they even would).

The cabs I have are heavy as heck. Furniture grade wood, lighting, etc. I know I could not remove those from the area on a minutes notice. If I had 24 hours, it would make a huge difference, but again.. I have no idea if they will abide by the 24 notice rule.

I still own the house in this area. Maybe I should just keep it there, I'm not sure. I was hoping to get into the apartment for a year or two, and now I'm really not quite sure what I should do. I don't like being away from the grow op. I'm always worried about something burning down, or not being able to treat a deficiency in time, etc. My setup is pretty dang stable, and I've been growing about 6 years. Still.. stuff happens.

I appreciate the advice buddy. Safety is number 1 in my book, even before growing. I'll have to check out the situation, and work it all out.

Not that I don't appreciate your advice buddy, but I of course welcome more feedback from others here.

Thanks again bro.

Never had a problem in either house or apartment grows. However, it all depends on what kind of rental we're talking about. Rental as in a stand alone house, townhouse or are you talking about a unit within a large apartment building? From personal experience renting a whole house or townhouse is safe enough to use. Most of those owners will never visit unless you call them. A ton of them have a career and the rental business is on the side for extra income. Once you start getting into big apartment complexes or multistory apartment buildings you start seeing the typical handyman who noses around from unit to unit to make sure they are in working order without any invitation. They still need to give you a 24 hour notice unless its an emergency such as a water line leaking and causing damage in the unit below you.

hey man, IMO if you can keep the growop in a small closet and that closet is locked (maybe even light and sound proofed?) then you shouldn't have a problem with someone coming in to check up on the place as they shouldn't really be looking for a grow op in the first place. get my drift?
Ask the tenant you are renting from about how things are handled in respect to the handyman coming over or reasons for them to have to enter without notifying you.
Hope this helps,
take it easy and happy growing

I did at one time work on a large apartment and if there is a leak into 2nd level apartment then that means I have to go to level 3 and find and fix it so that I can stop water from going into 2nd floor apt. I aint giving no notice if this happens (lol I didnt care what you were doing if it means I didnt have to work to fix it but make me work and ???) you get how it workes right (not hating just letting you know how emergancies were handled at the time) I dont know if this helps but thought I would say it Take care and be SAFE please
