hey everyone, i want to run an idea by you and get some feedback and ideas. i live in humboldt and the market is flooded with indoor as usual and next month it will be super flooded with outdoor on top of the indoor. i have had this idea for a while and recently it has been on the forefront of my mind but am having a hard time with logistics, ill get to that. what Ive been thinking is since there is so much herb here, and in california in general, i think that the really sick and/ or poor patients should have access to the same quality medicine as everyone else even if they cant afford it. i think there should be an individual, organization, collective or dispensary that embodies this ideal and is serious about truly helping those in need. after all isn't that what its all about? compassion and helping sick people get or feel better.
humboldt is a complicated area, socially speaking. there are a lot of super compassionate people here but then there is the type of people who don't share anything and have to make a buck off everything they do and then everyone in between. my problem is how do i go about getting something like this started without spending a lot of money on say advertising. i myself am in the lower financial bracket. also how do i estabish trust between those who may want to donate and those who are in need. like anywhere else humboldt has its fair share of scammers.
this idea came to mind because recently i was supposed to go out of town for 2 weeks so i broke everything down and gave my moms to a friend and long story short i don't have them any more. turned out i ended up not leaving town because two days before we were scheduled to leave i learned i have a blood clot in my leg. so now i am especially in a tight financial spot theses and i really need cuttings for my one light 215 grow. (mods, I am not asking anyone here at ic for cuttings i am just telling my story so folks know why this came to mind.)
what do you think. is this a rational possibility or just a pipe dream. i really feel i can make a difference and get something like this started but the how part is eluding me. (without having to spend alot of money to start it.
thanks ahead of time for your suggestions and input. any ideas will be much appreciated.

i already do that. on that note basically im trying to do that but on a much larger scale and get a whole lot more people involved. i am trying to reach as many people as possible and i simply cant afford to run a bunch of extra lights.
i want this to be a well organized program that enables people to give as well as receive and brings people together in this community. I'm thinking of the people out there who are sick and financially strapped who dont have a caregiver or know anyone who grows but could still benefit from medical cannabis.

I think this is a cool idea, especially because I can't afford to buy top quality meds right now heh.

Seriously though, I think the main problem with this idea is that the people who donate medicine usually don't grow top shelf stuff, and the people who grow top shelf stuff usually don't donate it. Who wants to put that much time and effort into producing amazing buds when all you get for them is a thanks and a handshake? There are some nice people out there but probably not that many and probably not so nice as to give away their prized stashes.

How about a collective with a cannabis credit program? Say I come to the dispensary and donate a pound of my best flowers. I don't get any money but I get a 1lb voucher from the collective. So basically I can come and get free medicine anytime I want up to 1lb.

Then for people who can't grow and need meds they can't afford, we do the opposite. You come up and ask for a pound, we give you the meds and a credit voucher for 1lb. Now before you can come back and get more 'free' medicine, you have to either donate a pound to the collective, or you have to donate your time/skills/labor/etc. to the collective and it's growers.

With something like that you could have growers feel good about donating A grade meds for free because they know they will either get paid back in buds or free labor. And for the people getting help with medicine on credit, they are getting a great deal without having to spend money or accept pure charity. To me this would be a REAL collective, every member participates and every member shares in the fruits of the labor.
