Thanks I was just curious, I'm working on a more reliable and consistent cloning method. I really wish someone was around these past few months to tell me what I'm doing different because I was having pretty good success and then my game went south...... I always take healthy cuts, you might have cried seeing me take 7-8 prime branches practically from my GSC in hopes of doing a massive sog style with as many small plants as possible. At least the plant has recovered in size and is healthy. It's possible she was underfed because 1 recently started feeding a bit more and she's doing awesome.
Sturgeon, what do you feed during late veg/early bloom? I'm at about week 2 and I'm not sure if they need some or are doing just fine on 1.0ec
Good news is one plant I'm putting outside this week, her clones are taking so that's good, I really want to keep this one. Oh ya I'm putting my veg tent stuff outside. Including the so far unclonable GSC and a GSC bagseed which I must assume it's an S1 because it's very similar to the gsc clone I was given. Do the cookies reek in veg? Could be she's so healthy, this bagseed plant is booming. And I got roots off her now too. I found a guy local who's got some nice organic mix cheap I'm going to try. He makes it himself and says his parents were organic farmers so ....I'll give it a shot for $40/yard
I feed usually about 400 ppm in late veg. All pbp grow. Then the first 20 days of flower i feed a half grow half bloom mox. Strength is strain dependent in all stages of course so that 400 is on my higher tolerance strains......
OK thanks sturgeon, that's lower than most, maybe it's a table thing? What's the highest you choose to feed during peak bloom? I have a feeling I asked all this, took notes, and forgot.
So what's your feelings on the glue LED? that bud looks great.
During flower i usually feed around 1.0 1.2 ec. So for example on my pp cycle i just chopped i was using 500 ml bloom, 200 ml calmag and 1/2tb of booster and getting around 1.1 in a 40 gallon res. The led is great for quality but not for yield. The buds under a 1k would be triple what they are under the led. Super frosty tho.
Hey at least the quality is there, it really looks so good.
I have one more question about stretch if you will. I'm about 2 weeks in and tops seem to be slowing in vertical growth but I did take about %50 of the fans off, keeping everything on top of course, I also trimmed the lower 3rd what would be larf while I was at it. Is it possible that would make them stall? The pruning didn't seem to slow them down though, if anything I saw them rev up and start trying to fill out, maybe this redirects their energy? I'm told pruning stimulates auxins, is it possible it's good to prune during this time? Other than the possibility of turning out nanners...... shhh.
My original question was: after stretch is done, how much do your plants continue to grow vertical? I have 400w hps @ around 12" with only about 6 inches left to raise.... Cutting it close, I really should have flipped just one week earlier.
When i start flowering ill take all the lower half of the plant, leaves and all and deleaf/lollipop it.i make sure its all done by week3 so i can try to reduce the chance of hermy by stress. My last 2 trays of glufies hermed so bad that only half was actually decent. Its just not a strain for hydro. Comes out consistant in soil bit gives variation in hydro. Stretchwise, usually by week 4ish all stretch is done and they just keep filling out till chop. A foot away seems kinda far to me for a 400. Thats about whats my 600 is at. Check by hand...if its hot on your hand its hot on the plant...could help reduce your amoumt of stretch.
How many watts is the LED? by the looks of the tray so far I'd say it looks good for tight canopy grows like Im doing now. I'm only trying to get about 12" deep into the bush.
Oh yeah when you say 12" is high to have the light, do you mean from the hood or from the bulb? I've always considered it as distance from the bulb itself.
Sounds like that completely defeats your purpose. People say leds are getting better and cheaper all the time, soon maybe we will get powerful affordable penetrating light in any spectrum possible.
It penetrates the canopy, it just doesnt have the footprint yhat serves my needs. If i was 2x3 itd be fine. But its an 800watt led running on 440wats. Just not intwnse enough for me. Im thinking of going gavita or lec.
I kind of wish I knew more about lights but I've never been all that technically inclined when it comes to electricity and electronics etc. I have a feeling I will step into the world of horticulture lamps when I step into the world of having a lot of extra money to spend. Part of me just wants to get a $200 1000w amazon special but I know I would never respect it. Or myself.
I have a feeling a gavita would be perfect for you. Classic lamp right? I'm sure there's a reason they are standard.
I dont think id go amazon special, for around 2 300 you can put together a quality package on ebay. The gavita is a de bulb but supposedly high ceilings are necessary an my ceilings are only like 7.5 ft
Yeah I always am spying grow rooms and when I see they have gavitas it's always so lofty, like having a small sun inside the room. It makes me realize how much I actually have to twist my plants up to serve the light.
So what would you recommend for eBay lamps like you say? I've never even looked I'll have to start doing that. I check CL sometimes for stuff, one day a guy had like three hoods and ballast and extra stuff for free, by the time I got to respond the ad was gone. That would have been a score.
