Anyone else feel that way? Years ago I grew and one of my chief concerns was always continuing my strains and ensuring I never had to buy on the black market. I look like a cop as people say so that avenue is difficult but I love to grow things anyway so it was always a match made in heaven growing weed.
That first time I ordered strains I was in a mandatory minimum state and waited anxiously for the seeds to arrive from Europe. While waiting I'd read that sometimes customs would record the address and send along the seeds hoping to nab you after a couple months so they could weigh everything plus the soil and the pot and really get you good. So I waited about a year after they arrived before growing. That was a long wait.
After that everything was magic. I had my own supply and followed the magic rule of don't tell, smell, sell and all was well.
I met a girl and we decided to move one of those years. It hurt but I disposed of gallons and gallons of different strains as we were moving from one side of the country clear across to the other and would be needing to stop at weigh points etc along the way.
The seeds, the magic treasure chests of exotic DNA, I could never be parted with though and sealed them up tight, dipped the containers in bleach and hid them well. We moved all across the state, then to a neighboring state, started a family and time passed on and on.
Finally we were in a place where we felt we could grow again. I got my masterlow seeds out and started 3, and waited, and waited. I knew it might take longer to germ, they were old and had been stored at various times in every temperature. 3 weeks or so later I tried again. I only wanted to do a small grow and so just tried another 3. I didn't want to waste any. More waiting, more time.... And still no cracks. I tried another strain, could always do 12/12 from pop and get about the same results.
I tried every method I knew of to germ old seeds over the coming weeks. Sandpaper, gently cracking with teeth, soak, soil, napkins etc etc. In a last feverish attempt at something I germed them all, every strain, every one. Every variable I could control I did so. Nothing.
So I got back on the web, and started reading marijuana themed webpages, overgrow was gone with my grow logs, the vendors had changed big time and something called feminised seeds were a thing and best of all it was easy to do and apparently it is easy to reverse them too. How great.
I was so sad that I lost my treasured strains but so excited to see the leaps and bounds you guys accomplished while I was away. Holy crap well done to all of you, the scene is amazing now! The sheer magnitude of everything new was amazing.
So tl-dr I'm waiting again for my envelopes with new amazing genetics to arrive. I'll have quite a good time while waiting to read about all the new strains and holy crap a new kind of lighting, LEDs they look amazing. I saved my hid lights and they still work fine but seeing these cob led setups has me excited to try them out too!
What a great time to be alive, and it might even be legal here during my lifetime. I NEVER thought I'd even have the hope of that in the future back when I lovingly packaged my seeds for their long journey all those years ago.
Peace all
