Hey, thats a pretty good deal.

I predict that there will be a lot of attention paid to VPD manipulation on all the boards soon. It is generally unknown or poorly understood by most growers in our community.

Providing nutrition, whether it be soil or artificial/synthetic/hydro, and light spectrum and intensity, and other fundamentals of horticulture are all pretty well understood by the average weed grower.

There is one main thing though, that separates the good grower from the master, that has not been clearly identified and articulated to a sufficient degree in our community.

Even a lot of the master growers don't have a good understanding of this, they just know that you "have to get the humidity right", and just go with good intuition and experience. They don't know that the relationship between water and air in the rootzone, the flow of water and nutrients and signalling compounds through the plant, and the dumping of said water out of the leaf into the air has been elucidated in detail, and that very good mathematical descriptions of this process have been developed, allowing exquisite control of the "main pipeline/material supply" in vascular plants.

In my opinion, the single most represented phenomenon in the myriad "what's wrong with my plant?" threads is VPD problems. The perennial "cal-mag deficiency" is seen for what it truly is when seen with eyes educated in the workings of transpiration, and the relevant environmental variables. This is also the case in "the claw" or "ram's horn", "nitrogen toxicity leaf claw" etc.

This is long overdue. It really is important for us to try to teach about transpiration and nutrient translocation, and the relationship and signalling that goes on between root and shoot. The rapidly changing legal atmosphere, and the merging of our world with the "legit" world make the time ripe for this.

I think that the community is hungry for this knowledge, just look at the fanatical devotion and interest people show for soil/nute schedules/general nutrition issues. The same with lighting.

nice find budley :good:
I dealt with VPD 1st time went i went sealed/Co2.
Ive never had a prob in 4 years with VPD.

seems like it would function like a fancy Rh controller,
or does it interface with a Rh controller?
what else can you tell us?
there's not much in the descriptions

It can give you the amount of water in the air in grains or by the dew point. It displays absolute water in the air regardless of temp. You basically do a calculation based on its output to determine what temp the room needs to be to maintain a specific RH.
