Visiting Long Beach CA

I'm taking a trip to Long Beach to visit some family and get out of the cold for a week and I'm just wondering what's good there. I'm interested in anything, dinning, nightspots, shopping, microbreweries, attractions, and of course any strains I should look for that are particularly good in that area. Post up your insider tips here and thanks!!

not sure if you maybe a sublime fan but long beach ca. is where the band is from and grew popularity there.

if you happen to be a big fan you may want to know bradley's grave is in westminster about 10 miles from downtown long beach.

other than that i'd say wtf is there not to do in Long Beach CA???

Long Beach is not a popular tourist distination. There are lots of things in the greater LA area to see. You could get killed or robbed in LB

Long Beach is a great little city. Not dangerpus at all. There is Belmont Shore which is a laid back area near the beach off 2nd Street, many shops and restaurants and great bars, try Panama Joes at night.

There is the Queen Mary and Downtown LB on Pine Street. Also there is a completely new development near shoreline park where the Aquarium of the Pacific is. There are many parks, farmers markets, marinas and golf courses and of course great beaches and sailing, and windsurfing and kiteboarding.

If you want to Surf you are 10 minutes from Huntington Beach Pier. Oh did I forget to mention the Gondola rides.

Anyone that says you will be hurt by visiting LB has their head up their perverbial kazoo.

Have fun!

I guess all of those businesses with the bars on their windows and gas stations with razor wire fences around them have thier heads up their kazoos too? I think LB looks like a dump compared to the rest of the area. You sound like someone that just has a lot of pride in their home town. So are you suggesting that this tourist could go anyplace they want in LB day or not in complete safety?

Dangerpus! Defending the innocent cats of Long Beach! I doubt I'll run into him. I'm really only going to be there for a few days. I'm planning to score some herb, if there's any to be had that meets my high standards, sit on the beach, eat some fish, and maybe go to Disneyland and ride Space Mountain. No big deal, but I like to support locally owned business when I travel, so I like to know what places to visit in that respect. Thanks all for the input.
