I am considering this sativa princess as a late finisher for my outdoor season. I am 34N, and we have a late summer in this region, warm weather extending to late September/early October. The weather holds well and doesn't get to rainy until mid November. I also have the option of panama, if you guys think it will finish better in the allotted time. Though Chaco's VB x MT was looking pretty amazing towards the end, if I had half the plant that was, I would think I was one blessed individual.

I know it might be a little late to sow seeds. However, yield is not my biggest concern, as my main crops are already in the ground. What I am looking for is a special treat, and a late finishing variety. One last thing to trim when everything else is jarred I guess.

I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts on the topic of VB x MT finishing at my lat, this late in the season.

Thank you for your time! And special thanks to Charlie and Dubi for the Sativa preservation work that we all appreciate so much.

Thanks Get Mo. I'll post some pics when she breaks the soil and before she goes. I am going to find out first hand if she'll go the distance at this Lat... time will tell.

Peace & Pot yall.

Breeder info

Breeder info

Excellent hybrid of southeastern Asian sativas, mixture of the mythical Vietnam Black of the late 70s and Meo Thai. This hybrid recreates the penetrating aromas and the high yield of our Vietnam Black mother, with Thai touches in order to avoid distorting the true asian sativa experience. This is our fastest and highest yielding thai x strain.

GENETICS FLOWERING

100 % sativa. Vietnam Black x Meo Thai. 11-14 weeks. Late October - Early November

STRUCTURE YIELD / M2

Strong structured sativa, bushy and branchy. Medium-High.

BOUQUET HIGH

Sweet, earthy and coffee aromas. Active and friendly effect.

My Vietblack/Thai had wonderful aromas, beautiful colors(with low temp and low nutes), and a great high! I grew them micro style w/ compost while Chaco put a clone into a coco airpot. When I run them again it'll be in very airy, coco-y soil with better temp control. Lower temps = lower odor and tighter structure, IME. ;)

Oldhaole, ran some a while ago in Hawaii. They looked amazing!
Here ya go! ;)

Ahh yes inquest it was your black plants that originally had me inspired to look into this strain (and being the fastest thai cross ace had :p). Did you keep any clones? Do you remember how the black (plant #4 if I remember?) smoked? I had not seen Oldhaole's outdoor... wow those are big! Thanks for sharing that. I do love coco, when they go out I will put a heavy dose of coco in their holes :)

I kept no clones. :( I should have!

I chopped them Nov 12th. They lived in my attic which had nightly temps below 50F. I'm at about 40N latitude, btw. They showed no temperature stresses and should have gone longer, but they stunk up the place. :)

All mature plants of mine were similar in effect but varied just a bit in strength. I found them clear headed. A working mans high. My bro, smokes only commercial indica type nuggets that you HAVE to grind, found himself "stupid high". lol I cant wait to fuck him up with Haze and Malawi once his apprenticeship is secured! Muahaha!!! For sure the 'Black (#4) was my favorite! A gorgeous girl! I plan to breed this line towards the black once I get some odor control. They will also throw reds and golds with warmth and low nutes.

Oldhaole's were 10+ feet as natural revegs. He called them VietBlacks. So, I'm not sure if they're exactly what we're growing or more related to the mother plant.... the Thai should add some size I would imagine....

Hmmm.... an outdoor show in north cali with coco amended soil..... I'm stoked to see what things may come this fall! Will you be running many of these girls??

Happy growing,
quest

p.s. I have to rep Aces Malawi and Haze/Thai, too! The Malawi should finish outside for you too if you find you want more potency than the VBT's. ;)

Welcome NCali,

You wont have any problem growing VB Thai and Panama in your climate, it sounds pretty much like our mediterranean climate, with a long summer, warm start of autum and very little rain. Great choices for outdoor growing in warm climates! ;) Good luck!

Dubi - thank you for the assurance and kind words, its nice to get both from a breeder. Ill be sure to update progress and keep the ace section in the loop.

Inquest- thank you for the feedback and info. Thats exactly what i hoped to find in this strain, clear headed HIGH, something with a kind spirit. Here in cali the devestators that leave you in a daze are easy enough to come by.

Woohoo! Something to look forward too! I had two thai sprouts break ground yesterday on the full moon.... full moon thai, sounds sexy! Just tossing 2x of the thai and 2x panama out to see how they finish. If its good, they will most likely play a larger role in next years op.
I have my eyes on green haze/thai for some time now, as well as tikal. Both of those i have in mind for breeders/indoor playtime :)

Thanks for the responses guys
peace n pot.

Ncali, howdy.

At 34* in cali? the plants will mature into Dec/Jan. Usually the 2nd week of Jan when the rain/temps can consistently be a problem. A majority of the time the rain we get before that time is welcome. Plus, the santa ana's that follow the front to dry things out afterward. Though they can cause problems too. Anyway, Ace gear will be fine at that latitude, unless your up in the mountains.

All the best-

Thanks guava. Do you have experience growing these genetics or similar SE sats at or around this Lat? I am not in so cal, I am north a few hours. Dec/Jan seems late, but I don't have any exp with pure sats outdoors.

keeping plants in smaller pots, allowing them to become rootbound, tends to hasten flowering and ripening ;) just have to water often

Very good. Yes. Not sure exactly where your at, but around here they mature into Dec, and you don't have to be concerned about things until the 2nd week of Jan, most of the time.

:tiphat: Hello All

So here we are 6 weeks after showing sex, two fine ladies out in the October sunshine. They are both maintaining that lime green shade, both have a lemon/orange peel scent. One has a slight petrol/chemical undertone and is quicker in the flowering process with more dense buds, and is also very resinous. I think that gal will finish in another 3 maybe 4 weeks, the other might take some time beyond that. The longer girl is less bushy and more stringy in her bud structure.

This was my first attempt at growing SE Asian girls, and something so close to landrace sativas. Quite a learning curve, and I don't think I have enough direct light to reach the full potential. In addition, it was a pretty cloudy end of summer compared to years past. Just not enough sun! But, things are looking nice regardless. Should be interesting to run these girls again in a better spot with a better knowledge of just how they like it.

I'll get some flowering pics up for y'all sometime in the next week or two.

Dubi, thanks for providing such lovely genetics. The orange peel/petrol girl smells amazing. I can't wait for an opportunity to bring them to their fullpotential:thank you:
