w.s. burroughs is a good read on semantics and manipulating culture. people know about kerouac and maybe ginsberg but pop culture only tossed a biscuit at burroughs in the 90s. his last trilogy puts a lot of perspective on culture, but it's so vile you have to go to zero to be able to read it, which is exactly what he wanted.
