Very Very Small Room - need some info

Hi All!

need some info about grow room size..

I have VERY small space
34cm deep 56cm width 150cm height.
250W HPS bulb
soil growth.
I have SATORI - mandala seeds.
satori is a narrow plant, but tall.
should i grow 1 plant or 2?
do you think i can grow there at all???
don't have a choice..

please help me!

As a general rule, all plants that I have experience with will outgrow their limited environment if allowed. With limited space and no history with this cab, I would run one and see how it fills the space.

Start the plant and as soon as it is well rooted in the flowering container, pop it into flowering. You will need to watch for a couple of things, a plant will stretch when it goes into flower, so watch the reach for the light.

My best advice is to use which ever method you like to keep her short (LST, Super crop, Top, FIM).

Watch the light penetration, if the bottoms of the plant don't get enough light the leaves there will suffer and become weakened and the critters will seize the opportunity to take up residence.

When in a small box instead of a larger room, I have found the need to monitor the humidity and heat more carefully as the changes can happen very quickly in a small area as opposed to a larger one.

This is of course all Island wisdom and not based in the deep knowledge of many of this forum's members. I hope in some small way this helped.

You've 2-3 times the light you need for that space. How are you going to cool it? Unless you do a SOG of single cola plants, I'd keep it to a single trained plant. As I recall, Satori's have a relatively short flower period. With a SOG, some veg is OK (you have the height and fair penetration) With LST or ScrOG you'll want to go 12/12 soon because of the limited foot print.

Here are a couple of my ScrOGs. I let up the Thunk at the first sign of flower. The Destroyer was tied down all the way through. It appears that the Thunk is much larger yet, the difference in yield was only 5 grams (120 vs 115) because the Destroyer used all of the screen. Both delivered colas in the 48 cm range but, the Destroyer's 48 cm colas were only 15 cm tall because I grew them horizontally.

My cab has twice your footprint. It took 20 weeks of 12/12 for the Thunk plant, 16 weeks for the Destroyer. If the Satori is 8-10 weeks, it should fit your cab fairly well.

presilia, I am in the planning stage of my first grow and I have almost the exact same dimensions (within a few cm either way). I too have been planning on going with a 250w light but I've been leaning towards ceramic MH (based on what I've been reading in the stickied thread) due to heat concerns. This should also help alleviate some of the height concerns. The other alternative is CFL, but CMH sounds very promising.

What reflector/ballast combo did you have in mind for your setup?

I suggest the scrog approach. If you check out the first link in my sig you will see that i used it in a very limited height space and it turned out quite fine.

Freezerboy, thank you for the detailed answer. scrog is a little too complicated for me.
sog is more simple i think..for me..so i think ill do sog if you say i can in that space...

how many plants can i grow in there under sog for your opinion?

i have 2 vents, don't remember the power but one is 4' and the other is 6'.
and i have a simple aluminum reflector from the hydro shop.

SOG is a great way to grow, I just wanted to show how ScrOG chews up footprint. My cab is 56x74x137 cm. I used to run a 24 plant SOG. Look into lollipopping (trimming side growth so plant is restricted to main colas only) and grows by DrBudGreenGenes and Thunderkel who specialize in soda bottle SOGs. http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=95963

hmm 6 you say?
what size are the pots sould be? 3.5L?
i dont want them too big, i have only 150cm hight, and that is before the bulb+reflector and the pot size.
ill say i have some thing like pure 80cm for the plant.

whats that work out to in inches? seperate you light from plants with a piece of glass and aircool the light so you dont have to worry as much about heat issues and can have the plants closer to the light, also if you can find a rubbermaid or some other type of tray that fits in there nicely you can plant them all in one container, good luck

Ive only manage to get one whole grow under my belt....had to stop in the middle of the second (, but never less I was very happy with the end results. Ive more than doubled my "light area" by hanging bulb vertically. With yours 250w you wont get much penetration, so with 80cm tall plant youll probablly get lots of popcorn in the lower parts of plant?

My first try was with two plants, also from Mike ( White Satin & Kalichakra), and I LSTed the colas around the bulb




Second and unfinished round was 16 Speed Queens in four pots "SOG" style....

ill start there a SOG growth, not vertical SOG, just for the first run and then ill think it over.

anyway im going to keep them short, at a 3.5L pots.
not too short but something around 40-60cm.
ill trim them, and the plants will concentrate producing 1 big cola...is that OK?
